Do you have any favorite pairings? or does having a snuff after a certain food lead you to search for a particular snuff? Last night (and this morning) after a very nice Thai curry, I had some Viking dark and WoS #22 mixed. I’m still getting the curry flavor, plus what ever the floral scent / flavor is from the curry, and it is mixing wonderfully with the smokey / creaminess of the snuff. So now of course I’ll be searching for a snuff with that mix of curry spice and floral Having recently given up cigarettes the increase in sense of smell & taste is making everything a bit more interesting, to say the least. Anyway, back to the point. I’m interested in your thoughts on foods & snuff. Thanks, Pete
cigarettes can not meet my nicotine needs (30-60 mg per day) On the other hand i choose different scented snuff than the smell of the food. If i eat desert i don’t sniff vanilla snuff.
Have you tried Abraxas Dragun ?
@linguist - I don’t miss the cigs at all! @basement_shaman I haven’t tried the Dragun yet, as soon as Mr. Snuff gets more in stock I’m definitely ordering a tin or two
Dessert snuffs IMO are like Abraxas Cerise, SWC AA and CdF #1, SG Elmo’s and Celtic Talisman. Viking Dark is out of this world with black coffee. Other folks rave about Cafe 11 and SG Black Coffee but I haven’t tried those. If you’re the kind of fellow who eats curry for breakfast, I’d try Dragun which is peppery with a hint of spice maybe even some ginger.
thanks @Zimobog the Dragun is high on the list! Oh, and I agree completely on the Viking Dark!
thanks lunecat, guess maybe I should have asked food or drink pairings! It is interesting that is for sure.
ok, I can also report that the Viking Dark #22 is really nice with some Earl Gray Tea
Don’t know about pairing but I do like menthol snuff after dinner. Even as an eye opener with my morning cup of mud.
I hear ya @bipolarbear1968, I like the menthol first thing, then a nice hot shower!
That will clean out the old snout, for sure @PeteTschantz
Yeah, pretty much my time for a nice English menthol is first thing out of bed. Right now its Gawith Hoggarth CM. Its always in free-flow by the time I’m preparing the breakfast and tea though.
Or a strong menthol after some very spicy food, like makes-you-sweat-spicy food…
Red Velvet Cake and Bernard Alt Offenbacher Kostlich. Oddly enough these two go very well together.
Chicken, Goat, Lamb, etc. Vindaloo and BOHICA.
After Asian food I like Toque Rustica it is spicy and peppery on its own but leaves my nice aftertaste alone.
I tell you, you cannot go wrong pairing Old Mill Scarborough Fair with the big bird and the works… Just right for this time of year.
I must admit that I haven’t thought of pairing snuffs with foods. I’ve always looked at the snuff box as more of a pre and after- dinner indulgence. I can tell you, however, that snuff enhances the flavor of red wine, sometimes spectacularly.
