Some months ago, I have got hold of some twist (or rope) tobacco and milled it to see how it worked as a snuff. Using a stone mortar I got a fine flour which sits well in the nose. I have taken it with a bullet. It smells sweet, quite like pure sugar. The nic hit comes quickly enough but it is not overpowering.
As I still do not know about alkalization, I am using it as it is. Maybe in a few months I will start experimenting using the thread Snuff Making 101.
I post pictures for the curious (before milling, I broke the rope intro pieces).
