Fisherman's snuff??

Dunno if this is of interest to you guys-- I was watching something by “vice” and this guy is a Journalist following Iceland’s Fashion Week Or whatever in search of Hallucinogens and the like, but this ship captain pulls out this Odd horn-shaped snuff container! See for yourself: http://www.vice.com/en\_uk/hamiltons-pharmacopeia/the-icelandic-skin-disease-mushroom-fashion-fiasco-1 The whole things sort of interesting but feel free to go to around 10:00 if you’re bored to tears and looking for snuff

It’s a plastic “horn” of Neftobak. They shape them like that to be traditonal. In Iceland in days of old a horn or whale tooth was used and taken by tipping the head back and pouring it in the nose.

Wow, it is actually used nasally. Makes me wish there was source to it even more.

OH! Wow- so that’s the snuff you guys are trying to acquire eh? Glad I found this then

Yep, that’s it. Word on the street was that is was really made to be mixed with water to create a loose snus, but watching that video makes me think that it is really made as a nasal snuff and some have adopted it as a snus product. Reminds me of the US snuffs and how the use for them was adapted by different populations.

I went back and watched the whole video. Very strange. I’m sure I saw some Smurfs under those enormous red mushrooms!

@xander yes very strange. Interesting however, isn’t it?

Dude, that is actually a very intriguing and hilarious video! Still watching :stuck_out_tongue:

@mikemoose ha ha I thought you’d like that  found that website through a cnn link strangely enough… what a coincidence I found snuff in the video that I guess answered some questions?- let alone a snuff highly sought after by quite a few on this forum! @xander @cstokes4 : Hey guys what’s up with Neftobak what makes it desireable to you guys? Just curious- that container is awesome IMO

@transistor : I did! Excellent little video :stuck_out_tongue: . A few things in the video that I liked  . But where do you find this “Fishermans Snuff” ?!? Yes exactly, very coincidental… Or maybe it’s one of those things where, coincidence is just a word we’ve made up to describe something that isn’t fully understood… Maybe you were MEANT to find that video to assist the fellow snuffers here! …Or maybe I’m just crazy…

The Icelandic snuff has been discussed here before. I believe the attraction lies in it’s isolated individuality. I understand that there is not much if any tobacco coming or going into or out of Iceland. This makes Neftobak an indigenous tobacco product of which likely no others are the same. The similarities of this product to others may hide important details for those that have an interest in such things. @Xander would be the candidate for this “discovery”. I do believe there is more information that has been digressed than is on THIS thread.

I’m mostly interested in it because a) it’s hard to get, and sometimes it can be pretty fun to figure out a way to acquire something that’s hard to find, and b) having had some in the past, it’s quite strong. When used in snus-style, I’d peg it as slightly stronger than Makla Ifrikia, though I will warn you guys it’s something of an acquired taste.

Nothing like a special snuff, especially if it’s indigenous like @Juxtaposer has said. I assume that it is quite a unique snuff! And I suppose the tobacco itself is unique. I’d just like to try some for the sake of trying some. The description doesn’t sound TOO appealing to me though lol, I am not a big fan of salty things. But that plastic snuff bottle it comes in looks really neat!
