What’s up y’all,

I live in the Netherlands and have never smoked in my life, but I wanted to try snuff and bought Pöschl Gletscher Prise Menthol in the local tobacco store. But my question is, isn’t it too much of a nicotine hit for someone who has never had a cigarette in his hand? Of course I don’t want to get sick or anything.

Hope you can help me with this!

If you haven’t started, why start, blah blah blah…Now that that is out of the way, I’d say no. The nic intake is slower and around the same as a cig if not less (sometimes more depending on the snuff). You should be just fine.

if it hasn’t made you sick yet it won’t, intake is self adjusting. When people talk about strength of nic hit I find I agree but not because I get a larger buzz but because I take less frequent and smaller pinches. So considering that. And if you do get sick it’s o.k. you know not to take so much so fast. I also think the body adjust to snuff more then cigs and to how it absorbs it. If you have to much in your system the system can actualy flush the snuff out of your nose too.

Just take it slow. If you keep hitting the snuff over and over in a short period of time you can get a little buzz going. If it feels like it is to much? Then just blow your nose.

As the others said, just take it steady and find your own pace - it’s very unlikely to make you feel sick unless you go mad with it. Just start with a tiny bit and get yourself accustomed to it. Your Gletscher Prise is a good one to start with.

There are tobacco-free snuffs available too, of course. People don’t tend to talk about these so much, but I suppose there must be a market for them out there - it’d be interesting to know if there are many people who only take non-tobacco snuff, on a regular basis.
