Ever since I saw the BBS special “Addicted to Pleasure”, the host samples some Jock’s Choice snuff and loves it, I wanted to try some snuff. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p6y72 Here in the USA there isn’t much of a choice, in fact in my area; the only game in town is Garrett and Son’s Scotch snuff. I went to a local tobacco shop and bought a 1.15 oz plastic container for a little over $6. I opened the container as soon as I returned to my truck. It was light brown and a very fine, dry powder. It has a earthy, peaty smell - similar to leather. I sniffed a very small amount into each nostril using the pinch method. Noticeable nose burn and some burn on the back of the throat -all tolerable without a drink. Some eye watering. Nice nicotine buzz. After a few seconds I drove home. I thought a couple of times about stopping to sniff a little more. After 3 days, I have to say I love this snuff. The nose burn is a lot less after a couple of days, and a glass of water handy helps the throat a lot. There is noticeable nose moisture for a couple of minutes after sniffing, but well worth it. Garrett’s Scotch is about 16mg/g nicotine content. How does that compare with other nasal snuffs? http://www.rstreet.org/op-ed/nicotine-levels-in-american-smokeless-tobacco-products/ Looking for recent recommendations for a first order - thinking about Viking Blonde and a Toque Natural -shermsnuff
I don’t know about that study. It was saying Camel snus has more nicotine than General snus. I have tried both and, I think Camel snus is the lowest nicotine product I have tried while General is near above average.
Scotch snuffs are great. I loved them from the start as well and I think there’s no need to be overcautious. I tend to neglect them now that I have so many foreign snuffs unfortunately. If you like Scotch snuffs you will definitely like English toasts and, at least some day, Indian whites.
Roderick, thanks for the recommendations and numbers (very helpful) Igglet, thanks for the perspective on the study - we definitely could use another source of info horus92, thanks for the recommendations - I think I’ll include an Indian white in an order I’m thinking of ordering from Mr.Snuff - Has anyone ever had problems with customs ordering from the USA? sherm
Sherm-Mr. Snuff is a wonderful vendor and I’ve not had a single issue with customs in the US.
thanks @chefdaniel I just ordered Viking Blonde, Wilsons Apricot, Samuel Gawith Apple, Toque Natural, Toque Coke, Dholakia White, and Toque Chocolate Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning shermsnuff
Sherm-you should be happy with your choices. I’ve yet to develop a taste for Indian White snuffs. I don’t have issues with the grind or burn, but I get some scents that just don’t do it for me. I think you’ll like the Viking Blonde. Viking’s plains are all very good.
