I received my order from Mrsnuff today (WoS Sandalwood, Chocolate, Vanilla and Stok Tropicana). WoS Vanilla is, in fact something mentholated (tastes like eucalyptus). I wrote them an email regarding this issue.

J

I’ve noticed how WoS Chocolate and Sandalwood will shoot straight to the back of my throat (something I’ve never experienced with Pöschl), are other brands morr forgiving? Dholakia, SG, Toque…

You’ve just got to learn to vary the strength of your inhalation depending on the snuff. It’s not easy at first, and I always have trouble remembering to do so when swapping from coarser to finer snuffs, but you get there eventually.

Very true. I just inhaled some White Elephant in my morning stupor.

Ouch!

Maybe, but I’ve tried like a dozen different techniques, from moistening my fingers/nose, squeezing the upper part of my nose, taking different amounts… I also wouldn’t say I snuff too hard, not at all. I’d probably get used to it, but for now I’m looking for snuffs that are easier to take, like I mentioned earlier.

C

Are you looking for floral, plain, fruity snuffs? SG and Toque that you mentioned above have both coarse and fine offerings. I think most of Dholakia are fine. Viking snuff (made by Samuel Gawith) has some flavours and are easy to take, their Dark is my daily snuff.

J

Something fruity, coffee/chocolate, maybe something like sandalwood… Everything non-mentholated.

J

Oh, and.preferably in 10 gram or less tins.

C

I have not tried any coarse fruity or sandalwood snuffs. I do like Samuel Gawith Black Coffee. It is a fresh ground coffee bean scent on a smoky tobacco base and is easy to take. It is available in 10g tap boxes but I would advise against buying that and instead pay the extra buck and a half or so and get a 25g tin. The tap boxes are notorious for drying out snuff and it would likely arrive dusty.

I guess I’m not looking for super coarse snuffs, the Stok is almost too coarse. Just something that’s easy to take, kinda lika Pöschl. Most of them are medium ground and I’ve never experienced a throat hit when using them. I’m sure it has something to do with moisture too.

C

I wouldn’t call the Black Coffee coarse, it’s more of a medium grind and easy to take. And I forgot to mention the De Kralingse chocolate snuffs: Choco, Chococreme, and Chocomint.

What about Dholakia Swiss Chocolate?

P

Swiss chocolate comes highly recommended, it’s moist and tasty and easy to use. For something fruity, I’d suggest a schmalzler. Don’t buy the tap boxes of English snuffs, as mentioned above. Re: schmalzler, hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can advise you. Happy hunting.

I ordered a tin of Toque Peach and Samuel Gawith Black Coffee. Practice makes perfect, I guess.
