First order came in!

Hey folks, So, my first big order from Mr. Snuff came in last Friday, and I could hardly wait to break into each and every one of them. Since i’m still a novice snuffer, i’m far from knowledgable enough to truly write an informed review. However, I have learned a lot about these snuffs and improved my technique quite a bit, and would love to share my thoughts with you guys. First and foremost, i’ve started to pinch and try to compress my snuff a little bit before i sniff it. This has really helped me avoid throat hits, and i’ve found the less deep it goes, the more aroma I can pick up on and enjoy. Before i was having a hell of a time with some of the really finely ground toasts and scotches I had in my modest collection. Anyway, here are some thoughts on the two highlights: Old Paris: Before I purchased this I had read up on some of F&T’s snuffs, and thought Old Paris sounded like a winner. At first I had difficulty picking up on it. It was very subtle, and I was waiting for that old timey antique smell so many people describe. I never did get the scent of old furniture, but after a while I did start to pick up on what reminds me of an old cologne or aftershave. Its floral, and seems to really come out when I step outside. I have really been enjoying it in the morning, driving with my windows down instead of the AC, smelling the spring through a haze of old barbershops. I really love it! Viking Dark: This one blew my mind instantly. It was immediately like sitting by a camp fire, matched incredibly with my morning coffee, and added a kind of nutty flavor to my evening Guinness. I’ll be buying this one again in bulk. I do have to add though that this particular snuff seems to leave my nose raw after a while. Maybe i’ve been sniffing too much of it too fast. I’ve been rinsing my nose out before bed due to that problem. In addition to these I purchased some F&T HDT, which i find to be buttery and citrusy, and made my first venture into some of the German Schmalzers. Namely Bernard’s Klostermischung and Postillion. Theres no missing these guys, and their easy to snuff which makes them great for a beginner like me, but my girlfriend absolutely despises them. Is Schmalzer German for snot faucet? Anyway, Mr. Snuff’s fast delivery and these quality snuffs made me a very happy man this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions for my next order, or tips to help improve my technique? Thanks everyone, All the best, -Matt

Just keep trying new stuff, and playing around with techniques (lots of info on these boards) till you find something that works best for you. Don’t worry if a snuff that gets rave reviews here isn’t to your liking, there’s plenty other snuffs to wade through, and tastes do change so you might like it later. Don’t over do it. It’s easy to dive in too quick, irritate your nose, and throw your nicotine tolerances out. It’s not a race nor competition, simply mosey on through and enjoy the rich and varied journey

I like the viking dark too. But seems to give my nose problems too. If you like plain tobacco snuffs, you might like toque quit or dholakia sparrow. Both are pretty good. Im a novice too, and they both are pretty fine, but i dont really have any problems taking them.

I recently got my first VD.  I like it a lot but find that it loses it’s moisture quickly when out of the original tin.  I keep having to put may “day container” in a baggy with a moist paper towel to keep it moist.  I DO love the nice burn it gives when it first goes in and yeah, I get the campfire kind of “feeling” from it.  I’ve noticed lately that it has a very subtle dark chocolate hint in the background as well.  Odd.
