° 1/4 cup grounded tobacco ° 2 tsp water ° 1/8 tsp baking soda ° 1/2 tsp salt ° 2 Tbsp oatmeal 1. Microwaved tobacco for 15 minutes on HI 10. Glass of oatmeal in middle of tuberware. 2. Grinded to powder with ball bearings for 45 minutes. 3. Microwave for 15 minutes. Sieve, then regrind. Repeat. 4. Combine other ingredients and mix well. Place in Pyrex measuring cup and bake at 200° for 10 minutes. 5. Store in airtight container, hide, and forget for week. Add shot of brandy inside container but separated. I couldn’t get it grinded down to an extra fine powder which I like, but its not too dry. I only hope it won’t be a problem when I give it a go in a week. Also, I’m worried about the nicotine levels. But hey, you can’t learn without making a few mistakes right?

Oatmeal?

C

mmm, oatmeal sounds good. some of the best chamomile I’ve tried as this essence-of-oatmeal aroma. I guess it would be better classified as a whole-grain vibe. Hm, wonder if horses like snuff…

S

I need to purchase a coffee grinder. It is not fine enough for my tastes, but the nicotine level . . I gave it a sniff and waited. I can feel a slow build of a buzz happening so I did something correct. Maybe? Great oatmeal and brandy smell! Quite enjoyable for being on a budget!

Alright, that’s it. This weekend I will commence crafting the Grape-nuts and wine cooler snuff that I’ve been dying to make!

S

Now . . . To figure out how to make a batch strong as White Elephant.

C

@SnuffH3ad: Don’t test the baking soda waters. Trust me.

S

Sure thing buddy. I think I will wait for next pay day to invest in a coffee grinder & a tea sieve. But I need advice on hiking up the nicotine levels.

Use more stems. Or achieve a finer, more toast-like grind.

N

Use no stems, the only difference between Toques regular base and the Quit base is that the Quit base has no stems.

Just to be clear. Did you actually grind up oats and add them to the snuff or simply indirectly scent the snuff with oats?

S

Oat meal, could be. We use rice flour in our Tobacco free Mentholin. Jaap Bes.

S

Indirect. I

I’m impressed! I use sodium carbonate as an alkalizing agent. I find that sodium bicarbonate does not interact with the tobacco enough.

S

Thanks! But I will use washing soda next time. The local shops don’t carry it, so I will have to go out of town for some. It has a decent nicotine kick to it, but not enough. And crap. I forgot that I left the brandy sitting in the container for three days, and its now extremely moist. I also need to purchase a coffee grinder and tea sieve; this snuff is too . . . Chunky?

L

+1 on the coffee grinder. I bought a Cuisinart model that can grind down to toast micron-levels for about $40.

Nicotiana rustica tobacco add 1/5

Crazy ass idea, just doesn’t sound good for a snuff, but I like it though. If you do it right it could work and be a real good snuff. Oat meal has a certain taste and aroma about it that makes it real good. I ve put it in smoothies and beers that use oatmeal are damn good. What it you let the snuff sit in oat meal for a time, strain it out, I’m sure it would absorb some of the oatmeal aroma and keep the smaller oat particles, strain it, hit it with a coffee grinder and then a mortar and pestele, then toast it a little. Maybe use malted oats from a brew store that has more aroma and sugar content. I bet this would make a damn tasty snuff.

C

Try it with toasted steel cut oats and grind as fine as possible, sieve out the big stuff and snuff away. Who knows? It might help lower your cholesterol.

Hmm. Oatmeal raisin cookie snuff!
