Firedance (Flake) Snuff

During the great Firedance Famine of the early 21st Century I was forced to make my own. I took a 250 gram bulk box of Firedance Flake, broke it up and toasted it very lightly. My old flour mill that I appropriated from my wife, a 200 mu sieve. Nice fluffy snuff. I packed it in an old boite nature cigar box, stuck it in my cooler/cellar to age. Jarred in hermetic sealed ‘terrine’. Side by side with a fresh tin of Firedance Snuff. The homemade has a much richer scent and one hell of a nicotine delivery. Easy to sniff all day except when the Vitamin N induced coma takes hold. Lovely stuff, that.

I’ve got to try Firedance. If the snuff lives up to the name it’s going to be lovely…

Just looked this one up " An SP with Blackberry brandy and vanilla" another on my ever growing list to try

It really is a delicious snuff, perfect for all day, better for dessert. Semi sweet, long lasting scent and accurate to the pipe weed of the same name

I think it’s definitely a dessert snuff, when I first took it I could detect the toasty under current. I don’t really get that any longer. I’d love to try yours Chef, it sounds like It has the stuff I wish Samuel Gawith snuff had! It was a flake first right?

@XkotToxsik‌ It was a flake, now it’s snuff. I have a wee bit left IM me your address and I’ll send you some.

I really like the FD Flake pipe tobacco, but don’t care so much for the snuff. Just too sweet and fruity for my tastes, I’m afraid.

Well you’ve convinced me to turn my jar of Firedance Flake (which is awful) into a snuff which is hopefully awesome

@mecompco‌ I’ll be happy to take that Firedance snuff off your hands. Let me know.

Dude! You did the whole 250g? Whoa!

@Juxtaposer‌ Well hell, I still have 4 of the 250’s in the ‘cellar’.

I’m with you on this one @n9inchnails‌ . I have a 50g tin of FD flake and i just can’t smoke anymore of it (half way through). I’m just not an aromatic fan and it’s sickly sweet. May try turning it into snuff, but i’m may have turned myself off the flavouring in any form for life. Erinmore flake is the only mild aromatic i can smoke. Everything else is non aromatic.

I am not a fan of aromatic pipe tobaccos, although I am a huge fan of many aromatic snuffs. I have converted some non-aromatic pipe tobaccos into snuff here and there. However, my question about converting aromatic pipe tobacco into snuff is whether the chemicals in some of the aromatic pipe tobaccos are safe when placed into the nose and nasal membranes. Some of those aromatic flavorings in pipe tobacco taste so bad to me (not all of them mind you) that I hesitate to put them in my nose. This post is not meant to disrespect anyone who likes aromatic pipe tobaccos as I know the aromatic vs. non-aromatic debate is a sensitive issue for many pipe smokers. I am just concerned about the health aspects. Any thoughts?

Old English tobacco laws makes a lot of the Brits pipe tobacco are very different from Dutch as well as American style pipe tobacco. These categories of “aromatic” are worth separating in any debate of this type.
