Fermenting Snuff

A

Hello,

I’m new here, but been using snuff for a few years. Now I’m getting my hand at making snuff, particularly trying to produce a schmalzler, but I don’t really understand how I should ferment the tobacco.

Should I built a heating chamber to mantain the temperature at 125F and just leave the already ground tobacco inside an airtight jar moisted up with 20% of water for a couple of months?

Does anyone have instructions on how one should do it or a book that teaches about it?

Thanks in advance!

Just use cheap Dominican or Nicaraguan cigars, like Balmoral, Don Tomas, Quorum etc. You’ll be astounded by the richness of natural flavour!

You might want to join the official Mr. Snuff Discord server: https://discord.gg/EufGfw34n3

We have snuff makers there who can offer you advice and help.

We also run a program for assisting small-batch artisan makers who are looking to start selling, if that’s something you’re interested in.
