Favourite brand

V

I know it is difficult to choose only one - but which brand do you find generally favourite? For me it is Bernard. Every Bernard I’ve tried was excellent - in moisture, grind and aroma. It is pure pleasure to sniff it. If I buy Bernard it is not a lottery like with Samuel Gawith or WoS - I know it will be great. The only two things about Bernard I do not like are high price and too small boxes

N

Sir Walter Scott’s Should the art using organs and the soul using body to create extraordinary snuffs And be sure that is difficult to be all satisfied

N

Abraxas, the only snuff manufacturer that I love ALL of his snuffs

N

At this point, early in my snuffing career: Six Photo.

A

Wilsons of Sharrow for me; wide range of quality snuffs and excellent online store to boot.

I’ve got to agree about the Bernard boxes. This is the company I most want to be able to buy their products in bulk.

H

It’s pretty tight but probably Samuel Gawith overall, though there’s no snuff company that doesn’t produce some snuff I like.

J

Samuel Gawith for me too. Their dark and coarse sorts are my favorites. Their fruity snuffs smell awfully artificial in my nose, though.

I

De Kralingse = Molens? Fairly new to brands. I have a gut feeling I will like Sir Walter Scott’s the best but, will mostly buy Torque due too variety. Cost I doubt will be an issue unlike my other habits.

N

De Kralingse = Molens?

Yes it does, its just easier to write Molens

I

I just didn’t know how molens came from de kralingse.

N

Molens is Dutch for windmill and they are the only windmill produced snuff in the world today and their website is http://www.snuifmolenswebshop.nl/ that’s where we get the name.

V

Actually, Molens de Kralingse is a shortcut too. Full name is: “Stichting De Kralingse snuif en specerijen compagnie De Ster en De Lelie”

V

Is Jaap Bes a shortcut from Jaap is the Best?

S

@all of you: It is disappointing but no short cut. Bes stands for berry in Dutch, But 4 hundred years ago it was Besz, which means son of Bes. And you should know that Bes was an Egyptian god who garded the bathroom! So beware. Jaap Bes.

H

Dholakia, as I am on a DW diet at the moment. Only abrupted by a couple of pinches of Bernard Alt Schmalzer. There is a white elephant on its way to me by mail so this may be changed up a bit…

N

I hope your not just standing there guarding the bathroom at the windmill Jaap :))

I

Tied between Toque and abraxas for me…but I also love me some Tom buck
