I have noticed that some members like the “old fashioned” labels on the the US snuffs. What is your favorite label. Even though you may hate the snuff, you can love the label. My favorite (at the moment) is Navy. I love the ship on the cover, reminds me of Civil War era ships.
I like star scotch but not too fond of the snuff itself
Some favorite labels: Levi Garrett Scotch and Rappee Snuff Tube Rose Honest
I too would have to go with either the Navy or WE Garret ones myself, and I do happen to love both of them, a little more so on the Garret as far as flavor though.
Honey Bee is probably my favorite snuff label, I just wish they would take the damn FLAV-R-GARD off it. Ruins the label I think.
I hear you on the Flav-R-Gard. VERY tacky.
It has to be either Dental Sweet or Lorillards. Pics from NicotineRush.
@ Troutstroker: I really like those two also, but I can’t pick them as favorites. @leman & cstokes4: Agreed. I hate the Flav-R-Gard. It is indeed tacky. I think it was there to explain why they switched to plastic cans. Hopefully they will drop it once everyone gets used to the plastic, or at least move it so it doesn’t interfere with the emblem. I have mixed feelings about the switch to plastic anyway. Anyway, my favorites are Navy (since I am a nautical sort of guy by profession and also a navy reservist) and Honey Bee since I take more honey than is probably good for me and I plan on starting my own bee hive. I love all the different honey varieties out there too. Everyone tells me if I keep using so much honey I will turn into a bee! Well, as long as I get a stinger…
I personally like the more feminine looking labels: Buttercup (pretty flowers), Dixie Sweet (pretty fruits), Tube Rose (not a fan of this snuff though), Three Thistle Sweet (it’s got pink on it!) and definitely Society with the woman on the label. The other favorite label and I happen to really like the snuff is the DeVoe Sweet Dry Snuff, can’t think of too many other things which truly symbolize America than a bald eagle. I also must add on here how I like how MANY snuff companies, U.S. and others don’t ‘modernize’ their labels.
I like how MANY snuff companies, U.S. and others don’t ‘modernize’ their labels. Agreed! Some of them are really great. I wish Wilson’s would move the warning label to the back, or at least make it less offensive to the eye like Toque does. Speaking of Toque, I like when they decorate their labels a bit. Xmas Pudding has a sprig of holly and snow on the letters. The rest just seem to be color coded. Dholakia’s Indian versions are way cooler than the American labels, although I prefer the tubs to the bags. Smith’s looked better when it was in bottles rather than tins. The list goes on.
Xander, let’s not forget all the Sam Gawith labels! Pipe and snuff tobacco, they had some quirky, beautiful labels in their stable; all gone, economics and all, I suppose. Cuckoo snuff with it’s little bird in the label, Mastiff or Otterhound with dogs; I’m such a sucker for this type of thing! And there’s no such thing as too much natural, unpasturized honey! If you ever get your own hive, sign me up to buy a jar of honey, would you?
Not labels, but the container designs, that would be another thread I suppose, but the flip top tap containers of Gawith Snuffs are cool, and I I’ll reuse these. Tom502
I love the rooster on the Rooster label. He just screams “YOU HAD BETTER BE THE COCK OF THE WALK TO USE ME”.
Yeah raw honey is the best. My favorite is white hawian honey, though if anyone knows how to (if it is even possible) get some black honey that would rock. (yeah I expect these to go on the outofcontext page).
bob, I think you are me! You’re a honey nut too? White Hawaiian honey is great. Of course raw honey is the best, but expensive. I fill a 2 gallon jar once a month at the co-op but usually can only afford regular honey. Desire to use raw, save money and be more self sufficient are leading me to beekeeping. Plus bees are just cool. I’m not sure how well it will work out where I live, but I’m working on it. I haven’t heard of black honey; what is it? I do like some dark varieties. Buckwheat, Tupelo, and Tasmanian Leatherwood are great. Leatherwood is hard to get and kind of expensive. If I make my own it will just be whatever is blooming in my garden (or the neighbors’) at the time.
that is awesome. Honey is awesome. One the subject of roosters what does it mean when they crow at you. One of my neighbors has a rooster and it likes crowing at me. No idea what it means. Beautifull animal I think it maybe trying to tell me what snuff to try next.
That rooster either thinks you are another rooster and sees you as competition for the hens, or it thinks you are an attractive hen and wants to get to know you better.
it did seem to want to be my friend. Reminded me of when friendly dogs say harro harro. So I guess it thinks I’am a hen. Well nothing to strange there cats do seem to think I’ve got teets in my armpits (they often suckle me there and do the cat dance).
so bob, anything else you’d like to share with us? LOL
my neighborhood (my new one) is full of friendly animals. There is harro dog, yo wassup cat (he doesn’t like people petting him but loves to say hello) and the confused rooster. Oh yeah and the negative skunk (he’s mostly white).
