tough one that. hate dell laptons. keep gumming up my immaculate typing skills. I wish I had my old French snuff box from Gulfport Mississippi from 1973…darned ex wife first ex got it and who knows? nice one too. My chinese snuff bottles are very nice but way too nice to carry with pocket crap. so I leave it to you…what to carry ttreasured snuff in???
At the moment, I’m using an Altoids Smalls tin. Not ideal, and I’m still looking for something better. I have some glucose test strip containers that I’m working on. They come with a dessicant polymer lining, which is easy to deactivate, but just when I was feeling smug about that, I noticed a faint plasticy odor in snuff that I stored in one. I think I can fix this too, but until then I’m using the Altoids tin and trying to tolerate snuff that’s dryer than I’m used to.
So far my Patrick Collin’s Zebra Wood box is my favorite. Perfect size, beautiful grain, and holds tight.
Love my Patrick Collins Tripletech oak box. Great quality and size. Love the options with this. In fact, I just ordered another one in walnut.
I have twenty two snuff boxes and over thirty snuff bottles with quite a few favorites. Until I splurge for a silver snuff box my PC Zebra wood will remain as one of my top three picks. I must say that putting the wrong snuff in a box/bottle can impact greatly how much one loves it. My collections encompass a broad range of styles and types mostly procured inexpensively over E-Bay. A dark wood flip top box is my absolute favorite although I don’t use a single flavor quick enough to prevent the boxful from drying out. I am working on arranging a humidor style storage system to keep my wood boxes in. It is the same for snuff bottles. Snuff in them will eventually dry out. Bone and stone bottles are my faves and cap fitted spoons are the shiznit.
Toque tins are pretty handy. I also use an old Burt’s Bees ointment tin. Seals really well…sometimes too well, and can cause quite the mess while trying to drive and snuff. Was a pain in the rear to clean it out, but it’s very discreet.
Last month I have bought two of this: http://www.drechselshop-online.de/tabatieren.htm I really like them. They look beautiful and keep the snuff fresh.
I use a couple of flip top hardwood boxes, one a standard clover leaf box in rosewood and the other a walnut box. I pinch, so flip tops work best for me. I have a couple of P.C and Heartwood boxes but prefer the flourish of a flip top box.
My favourite snuffbox is most definitely my Regnas sea urchin fossil lid, gold plated silver snuffbox
@n9inchnails The Regnas boxes are magnificent, I keep promising myself one. The spherolite rhiolite attracts me. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SNUFFBOX-SPHEROLITE-RHIOLITE-GOLD-PLATED-SILVER-925-/330595621586
@greybeard19 - my ex wife threw half of my old snuff box collection out (or sold it) denied it ever since the f@£%^&* b)(*&! Currently my favourites are my engraved lid silver box by Ari.D.Norman and a Toque bottle.
well I know a guy whos wife washed his meerschaum pipes.
My teak Pat Collins Triple tech. Brilliant snuff box IMO
@khalid wow the price of those boxes has nearly doubled since I got mine, I only paid $160 for mine and now the cheapest one is like $300!
PC triple tech.
@Uwe thanks for this link, i will go and buy one or two too. they look really nice and elegant. seems like they are made with great care and perfectly fit to contain snuff. i mean, it´s a Tabatier we talking about XD XD
I notice that no one has mentioned the Bernard’s snuff bottles. I rather like the aesthetic of them and am thinking of getting one soon. Has anyone used one before? Does anyone like/dislike them alot?
I use the tins that the snuff came in lol
I find that the tripletech holds moisture fairly well. The fit is very tight.
