Eye-snuffing (and possibly techniques)

I have, while taking snuff recently (due mainly to my own hastiness) gotten some portion of snuff into either one or both eyes at a time. It came to my mind that maybe actually doing it on purpose may add a whole new dimension to snuff taking. I am curious to see what you guys think about this, about it’s safety, or any other variety of topics that might be concerned with eye-snuffing.

this might even be crazier than my BRUTON+Baking soda experiment! Not it!

I’ve had snuff in ma eye a few times, and I’m going to go ahead and say that it is much nicer in the nose!

That sounds effin’ painful!

Let us know how that works out Sfingle. I hope you can touch type.

Sfingle, Nicotine could be readily absorbed into the blood stream as the snuff dissolves into the fluids surrounding the eyeball. But, as anyone who has gotten the tiniest bit of snuff, or sand for that matter, into their eyes, it is quite an irritant. And, I’ve seen the stuff that comes out of my nose after a good day of snuffing, could you imagine walking around with snuff stained eyeballs. Good luck Sfingle.

Bernard makes or made something called “Russischer Augentabak” translated: Russian eye tobacco. Its a snuff though, no idea why its called eye tobacco. I dont think its still produced.

@ Matt: Lol; @ GoldenBoy: That’s an interesting little fact, wonder if anyone has ever used it for the eyes. I didn’t think about the whole eye-discoloration thing, either, I actually mainly just posted this idea as a little joke, but it is something to think about, and I’ll probably try it at least once, with a mellow snuff. I ain’t sticking any W.E. Garret in there!

Sfingle, I give you 9.5 for the funniest topic ive seen yet…

I’m not a doctor but… Powder tobacco in the eye… i don’t think it’s a good idea.

Just the abrasive quality of snuff would make eye snuffing a bad idea. Plus nicotine constricts blood vessels which I could see having really bad long term effects on the eyes if done regularly. (not the occasionaly tiny amount in the eye, but using effective doses in the eye). As far as eye tobacco it could mean a plethora of diffrent things. For one isn’t there a type of flake tobacco called birdseye. It might make the eyes water. Or possibly it’s an insult to russians like they put this stuff in the eye. Wait maybe russians did use snuff in the eye but only after having their noses cut-off for useing snuff in the first place.

Well…if you can inhale smoke and make it come out of your eyes then why couldn’t you eye snuff? Come on, Brail isn’t that hard to learn.

eye see what your saying…

Heck, there’s an element we’re missing here! Isn’t it true that in the American South, ladies would take a hickory stick, dip it in dry snuff and chaw on it? Maybe people with glass eyes gave ‘em a little roll in the Bruton’s first thing in the morning, kinda kickstarted the day a little? "Now be nice to Grandma, Junior. We ran out of Bruton’s this morning and her eye’s a-twitchin’."

@GoldenBoy … Russian eye tobacco: people believed that snuff may enhance the eyesight, if it has a good nose running effect…

You’d be walkin’ around with a brown eye on your face. Ehhch.

hmm maybe a clear liquid nic infusion in some saline… but it just doesn’t sound good to me.

In the name of snuff, science, and pure anticipation and curiosity, I think i will probably try this eye-snuffing thing out later today when I feel composed enough to do so. Probably won’t make a habit of it, either out of pain, or all the cautionary warning this post has gotten, but i do feel I should at least give it a go and see (pun intended) if I like it.

Almost sounds like that old farmer that shoved in his ears. Haha be careful if you try, wouldn’t want you to go blind!

I flush my eyes with brake fluid twice a year. It’s painful but my sight is so much better afterwards. (Don’t try this at home). I’m pretty sure that if I was still drinking, I would have tried to snuff through my eyes after a couple of drinks. But, being sober, I doubt whether I will participate in this practice. My nostrils are quite big enough for that purpose.
