Eh? Ohhhh!

Has a snuff ever done this to you? Let me explain: only one snuff has ever caused this reaction in me, one where I experienced something totally unexpected. It was when I was first trying various snuffs, and for the most part, they tasted like I expected them to. I thought I’d try high dry toast, and when it first got into my nose, It tasted completely different from how I expected it to. It took me a few seconds for my expectation to subside and to ‘understand’ the taste, and when I did, I found that I loved it. Has anyone experienced this combination of confusion and delight upon trying a new snuff?

nope

I can’t say as I have.

yep going through that right now with all the new snuffs that just arrived

it took me a while to be able to appreciate plain and toast snuffs, but persistance has allowed my nose to pick up the variety of scents in plain tobacco.

@bish, yes, that’s what I mean. At first, it just smelled funny, especially as people often describe HDT as having a barbecue scent. I thought it smelled more like leather or something, and it took a second to understand that that was what it was supposed to smell like. The ‘plain’ ones are my favorites, SP (although not strictly plain) has such a subtle aroma that it takes a while to appreciate, and then becomes addictive! The flavored snuffs seem a bit ‘obvious’ by comparison.

I find a few snuffs need time to age in the nose. Some for the better, some for the worse. Super Kailash is my favorite example right now. The longer I leave it the more I notice, to a point, after a bit it does need refreshed.

Not really… but if you are “misunderstanding” tastes, you should probably go see a therapist… jk

@doctorbeat yes I know this feeling very well ! Last time was with toque bourbon as I remember well that instant though of what the hell is this leather ? Eh then ohh ok ummm actually is that smokey ? Hmmm actually not bad
