Effects of Nicotine

Hello everyone I am interested to know how many of you still can feel nicotine. I read Snuffreviews pretty regularly and I notice that with some of the higher potency (nicotine) snuffs that some people appear to no longer get this buzz except with the strongest snuffs. Does this occur when you are addicted to nicotine? I am not addicted I have gone 2 days without a pinch just to see. and while I miss snuff it isnt a need for it. So if this turns into an addiction will that dizzyness and calming effect go down or away or will I still get that? Hope you guys can help Thanks

Your body just gets use to the nicotine like any other substance. If you drink beer everyday eventually you will be able to drink more and get less drunk because your tolerance is up. It appears to me it’s the same with nicotine as well, the more snuff you use in a day the more you will eventually need to feel the “buzz.” I use snuff every day but not a large ammount. Just whenever it’s convinient I’ll have a pinch or two and still get the effects. If you personally feel there is no need to snuff everyday then don’t. Just do it whever you want to and most importantly whenever you’ll enjoy it. Some of us just like to enjoy it more than others =) And besides there are thousands of worse things you could be doing to yourself.

The dizzieness will subside with more frequent usage. I try to spread out the times when I use a potent one and then hit it hard when I do, that way I can keep that psuedo dizzy feeling. The calming effect will always be there. That’s the little reward that keeps you coming back.

I have to “work” at getting that buzz now. With a bit of abstinence I can feel the nic in my system but nary a “buzz” anymore. I can feel it more w/ Snus especially the first one of the day. Maybe it’s because I prefer smaller, more frequent pinches and my “normal” level of nic is ever-present. I haven’t gone a full day w/o nic in many years but if I stop consuming tobacco early in the evenings then the morning is very pleasant…that nic makes my head swim. I enjoy the calming most of all and I long for the buzz…but there are substitutes for that.

I think since giving up smoking I’m more addicted to nicotine! When I first tried snuff it really gave quite a buzz, and when that diminished with experience I tried chewing tobacco and snus for an extra kick, and now I’m taking snuff and snus together to feel a bit mellow. I think nicotine has a focusing, yet calming effect on me. I’ve been rather stressed over the last four months with buying my first house which required restoration and dealing with idiotic builders who kept screwing things up whenever my back was turned, and with me being very busy at work. Hopefully when things settle down I can restrain my nicotine intake as I’m taking Wilsons Lavender snuff during the night to help me sleep!

I almost always get a few good nic buzzes from snuff a day. A few bigger then usaly pinches all right next to each other. Though with snus I’ve been reducing the size of my morning pinch to a non-buzz level which seems to help. I’ve also noticed waiting a little bit longer then I want before I take my next pinch of snuff seems to help with the buzziness tremendously.

I prefer the buzz from another natural product

I’m an ex-heavy smoker, and I’ve never felt a buzz from snuff. I get sick from too much nicotine long before I get a buzz, and that’s okay with me. Snuff does have a calming effect, and I feel that often, though!

Hmmmm why do people get a calming effect from snuff nicotine is a stimulant is it not ? I understand with smoking a cig the calming effect as you breath differently for 5 mins and that in itself relaxes you … are you not feeling the calming effect as a relief from the nicotine withdraw ??? Is that what calm ur talking about ??? I just don’t realy get a calming effect I’m just interested . Saying that I’m a very anxious person … forgive my spelling as usual lol

@davec32, yeah, probably the calming effects from satisfying the withdrawal than the actual stimulant. Snuff just makes me happy.

Nicotine is a stimulant, yes, in that it increases heart rate. However, it does stimulate the pleasure receptors of the brain which can induce a calming mildly euphoric feeling. Over time, when you come to expect that pleasure from it, you will find you crave its absence. Satisfying the craving on top of the mild euphoria increases the “reward” feeling and is what makes it so addicting. To appreciate it to its full potential, you will have to allow yourself to become addicted. I don’t mind that for one minute.

Xander I see why now good info buddy thanks

The easiest way to explain it to anyone is, of course, “Snuff makes me happy!” lol!

Nicotine is is a stimulant in small quantities, but is calming in larger quantities. That is a medical fact apparently, and it certainly works like that for me.

Nicotine is like alcohol or cannabis in the mixed stimulant/depressant department. Probably why those are the second, through fourth, most commonly used drugs. Caffeine takes the top spot.

I don’t think THC fits that description (maybe clinically it does) or I haven’t yet smoked myself to sleep. God knows I’ve tried. For me, anyhow THC is less dependent on my mood than alcohol but I haven’t found the effects to be paradoxical in different doses. Of course, given the choice bet/ the two I’d never touch alcohol again. Yes, I live in a land called Honah Lee.

I’ve used tobacco for so long that I never get a buzz. What I do get is a nice feeling of relaxation if I’ve not used for a while but years of strong RYO and Marlboro cigarettes, cope and the rest have de-buzzed me completely.

I seem to get an extremely relaxing feeling after taking snuff, somewhat similar to smoking a pipe, which I also do. Cigs used to give me a quicker hit, but little relaxation.
