Echecks: quick question

Does anybody here use echecks? I am considering it as a payment option, but really don’t know if it is worth paying the extra fees. It is supposed to be safer for shoppers than CC and apparently more and more people are starting to use them. To be honest I am not even sure as a shopper what the process even is? Presumably you select it as a payment option and then enter in the info at the bottom of a regular check? Does anybody know? Many thanks for any info or suggestions. Dave

is that paypal? Would be useful for international peeps without a credit card.

I use an electronic check to pay a few of my bills online. They are pretty easy and safe. It asks for your routing number and account number, that’s about it. Pretty similar to CC. EDIT: It’s not PayPal. It is the same as using a check, except you don’t physically write anything or mail it.

I use them to pay my student loan and have used them to buy things online before. They’re pretty convenient.

May I ask why you’re considering this Dave? Possible issues with Credit Cards being used for tobacco sales or…? Regardless, I’ve no problem with using that process.

This is a surefire way to cut out CC companies. Plus, I think that retailers have to pay to use VISA, Mastercard, etc.

Kind of turned a deaf ear lately, seems there’s something else brewing in DC regarding credit cards and tobacco sales. As I said, deaf ear and all, don’t really know, just talking…

please stop talking OTD, lol. I don’t think I can handle anymore laws@Tabak right now

lol zipped (-;

My wife’s uncle uses 'em to order cigs from the Phillipines; swears by em. Bout the only way you can mail-order butts into the US, considering the CC companies quit processing payment for cigs back in 04 or 05…

Thanks for the input guys.we will be setting up a small experiment to see if we can get it working. If so I think I will make it an option. Feels good to stick it to the CC companies. Is it only US checks that will work or will it take money from overseas too? Anybody from outside the US ever buy from a US site using echecks? thanks Dave
