I just got my first can of scotch snuff (W.E. Garrett). This stuff is absolutely wonderful. I was sceptical about the “barbeque” smell but WOW this is amazing! Plus I’ve got a huge nic buzz off the stuff. My only problem is that when I took a sniff it went straight to the back of my throat and also caused a sneezing fit. Don’t get me wrong, for a snuff like this a little sneezing is not going to deture me. I was just wondering if there are easier scotches out there that I should think about getting in my next order?
Tube Rose. It is considered a sweet, but great nonetheless.
Starr is even easier than Tube Rose, and has a strong nic kick. However, with practice and perserverence even Garrett’s is easy.
You should try Bruton and/or Rooster.
Hey thanks Xander and Pieter I’m defenitely going to try some different kinds. I’ll use your suggestions in my next order.
@KP84: Pieter is pulling your leg.
@KP84: Are you an '84 grad of KP?
I would not consider Bruton easy to take
Tops has become probably my all time favorite Scotch To me it is one of the more complex Scotches out there (and I don’t usually think of Scotches as complex)
KP84 Also recommended is to take some time to learn snuffing techiniques.
Try Railroad Mills Plain.
Tops seems easiest for me
Ive heard that Swisher’s Starr is the easiest.
Try them all and you will see. Starr by far Seems the easiest to me.
TOPS Sweet is easy to take imho - it is like smashed smarties or sweet cacaou powder for kids. overall sweetness.
which ever one you leave on the bar table when you go to take a piss. That would probably be the easiest to take.
haha!
Hah! I guess it would be Bob. I guess I’m just gonna have to try some different kinds. Maybe I’ll pick up some Star and RR mills next.
Xander: Are you an '84 grad of KP? No those are my initials, and '84 is the year I was born.
Scotch Black…
Glenmorangie is pretty smooth…oh wrong Scotch!
I’m pretty new at snuff (2-3 months in) and I’m just now getting to be able to appreciate the scotches. I’m going to second the motion that Starr has the reputation has being the easiest scotch to take; however, I’ve never tried it. When I decided I was ready for a scotch, I got one of those huge tumblers of it. That way, I could waste a million pinches trying to learn how to take them. I literally went through a normal sized 1oz tin just trying to get my technique right. Just keep working at it.
This is like asking which car is the easiest to drive. The easiest to drive will not be the best performing or the most fun to drive. Go for the Lamborghini or at least a Porche especially as the cost in this case would be the same as a Ford Ka.
Nope. Still Starr. Why? Its grind is the coursest. Its almost not a Scotch. I mean its waaaaaaaay different. It could almost be a Toast. I wish I coulr remember who got the gullet of Lorillard High Toast on ebay last year. He never let us know how it was. Think I’ll fill my scotch box with Starr next week. Its only got a less than a pinch of Honest in there ATM.
I just took a pinch of Star. = Mild, no smokiness, and… easy to snuff without getting into the lungs (i.e. boring). Good nic hit though. I think I’ll fill a box myself. Thanks guys!
There is only one scotch which is worth buying: J&B
So I dug into my meager collection of scotches and tried the Starr again. It’s very good and using the ‘take a breath’ technique easy to take too. I’ve often snuffed too hard to truly enjoy the scotches; maybe I’m on the right path now.
Starr is really easy to take. Its almost identical to toque natural toast imo
