Earthy Snuffs

What are some really earthy snuffs? Stuff like F&T Santo Domingo, stuff that smells like rich dirt. I just love this scent; some of the dungy snuffs like NTSU and D Black come close but they’re not quite the same. Are there any other really really earthy snuffs like this out there? Mull of Oa I suppose sounds like it’d fit the bill but I just don’t feel like paying 10 bucks for 15 grams, heh.

Gwayi Taxi Red.

damn, i was going to say santo domingo haha… maybe viking dark? i must try and get some from this thread, i want more.

NTSU Black, Babaton Blue

Viking Dark is “earthy” in the sense that it’s all natural scents, walnuts and smoke and such, but I don’t get quite that soily, dirty scent in it I’m looking for (though it is one of my favorites). @lunecat: I understand SG Golden Glow is mentholated; is it heavily mentholated? I can never really smell tobacco in snuffs with a lot of menthol @fbones24 cool I have Babaton Blue on the way, NTSU was nice but for me a lot more dungy than earthy

I would reccomend SG McCombie (leather and moist earth) and KB Special (earthy and smokie), Fubar Grunt (nice musty earthy shiitake mushroom scent), Taxi Blue and G&H Kendal Brown (similar to Santo but a little less smokie).

SG- London Brown, Scotch Black, KB Plain, Black Rappee, McCombie GH KB Plain, Bernard’s Virginie, Viking Dark, Viking Brown I’m sure there are more I can’t recall right now.

Thanks everyone! @cigargod I got a bad FUBAR Grunt, smells like a nasty cigar ashtray to me ;_;

I don’t think you got a bad one! I get nasty cigar ashtray too on my most recent batch but I like it.

Hedges is highly mentholated, but you can definitely taste a rich barnyard like tobacco base.

fubar africa to add to the list

De Kralingse Latakia AO 1860 has a smoky earthiness to it.

Gwayi Blue was awesome, that tin went fast as hell; KB Plain is also awesome, smoky too and not nearly as much citrus as the original. Someone else mentioned KB Special, I had that one forever ago but don’t remember it well, I’ll have to try it in future. Neither KB Plain nor Gwayi Babaton Blue had a full blown dirt smell like F&T Santo Domingo for me but they fall somewhere in that spectrum. WoS Irish High Toast No. 21, which I’d never tried before like an hour ago, is great on the earthiness scale. If Santo Domingo smells like rich mud/potting soil, IHT 21 smells more like a dusty road. I love it! “Dusty road” doesn’t sound quite right but it’s the best I can do, definitely earthy for me. I think I’m getting something like . . . worm castings, maybe? Dirty snuff for sure and I mean that in the best possible way :slight_smile:

The most similar snuffs to SD that I’ve had are GH Kendal Brown and Bernard’s Gekachelter Virginie.

Don’t forget F&T Old Paris! I’d agree with @n9inchnails too SG London Brown is likewise a firm favourite of mine for similar reason :wink:

Yeah Old Paris is great, now that I think of it it is pretty earthy, though also scented; I’ll definitely have to try GH KB, that’s one that’s come up multiple times. Bernard’s GV I found more smokey/woody than earthy personally.

Molen’s A/P, Molens Oranje(orange, but very light), SG Black Rappee, Scotch Black, SG Scotch SP, Dholakia Black, etc. All the posters are spot on, and Bernard’s GV

Toque Almond Toast is like lightly sweetened leather/soil. Love it!

+1 on Mull of Oa. To my taste SG Grousemoor is very earthy. As per the reviews on http://www.snuffreviews.com/browse/samuel\_gawith\_company\_limited/products/grousemoor it is difficult to pick out any particular aroma but it always makes me think of walking in the countryside after rain.
