Which do you prefer? I like dry. Wet snuffs tend to be coarse grind and messy.
I’m a bit new at this, but it depends on my mood and what the situation is. If I’m doing something very active, especially if it involves me being outdoors, I prefer a moist, coarse grind. I don’t have to concentrate on taking it so i can just grab a pinch and go. When I’m in a nice quiet place, I tend to reach for the dryer, finer grinds. I enjoy the flavor of my selection of these a lot, but they do require me to pay attention so I don’t snork them and set my scalp on fire.
I prefer unscented dry snuffs. My faves are HDT and IHT22.
I’m with Brandasaur, I prefer dry unscented snuffs, my two favorites being the old staples; HDT ad SP. I have been known to add just a touch of saline nasal spray though, just to increase the moisture enough to make them easy to take. Very fine snuffs with a touch of moisture are like velvet. Too mich moisture and they get cloggy. Never really enjoyed the commercial moist ones, especially the coarser grinds, a bit too much like used tea leaves!
I like them all. It’s fun to change it up every now and then… but I don’t take the coarse or wet ones at night because I don’t want a stuffy nose when I go to sleep!
My nose says: The dryer the better.
My favorite format is relatively fine and moist. Not the most common combination, but I find it works quite well. Think really fresh O&G or Anarkali.
+1 with Uwe … more dry, more fine grind … toasts all day.
@tybalt: you may want to try my method then. Get a fine dry snuff, spray the surface with saline nasal spray until it looks muddy, cover it and leave it overnight, stir thoroughly. Makes a really silky powder. Actually, I’m going to revise my answer: I like moist snuffs as long as they are really fine and not TOO moist. Most of the moist commercial snuff I’ve tried are coarse too, and the moisture level is too high so they’re clumpy.
