I’m in the UK and I’m not sure if it’s the weather but I’ve had a very dry and quite sore nose recently. I don’t have a cold (have only had one mild one since I started taking snuff almost a year ago). My nose inside has been a bit scabby, almost like I’ve been picking it too much (I haven’t). I’m thinking for the time being to try to stick to more moist snuff. Anyway, does anyone else get this?

P

It could be dryness that occurs during the winter months from lack of humidity. Try using a saline nasal spray to keep things moist “in there”. IMHO

T

Will look into that. Thank you.

I get it once every few months. Don’t blow your nose too hard and don’t pick it. Apply some Vaseline with a q-tip. Also, not using snuff for a few days would be a good idea.

When my nose gets dry and rough feeling I apply a liberal portion of Neosporin to a Qtip before bed and this helps very much.

You could invest in an humidifier http://www.comparing.guru/pages/nsearch?seedid=149&origin=google&gclid=Cj0KEQjwuI-oBRCEi87g0K3O8OoBEiQAb25WAYzfV94by6LhrbabfTBBmzMUFmti6Wf\\_12s4R\\_8tqScaAkTO8P8HAQ

The trick is miconazole or clotrimazole cream. It’s fungal in nature. I tried everything. I use a little on the end of a q-tip inside the nostril once in the morning and once at night when I get a crusty sore that won’t go away. I get results in a couple days, but keep applying for a week or more. You may need to relax your snuffing a little until it goes away. I tried all the other previously mentioned remedies and then some with no success.

T

Thanks @Jim - will look into that. I have a tube of clotrimazole.

@Thunderbird this happened to me this past Winter for about a month but now has gone away ( even though my snuffing habits have not changed ). I agree it’s the cold dry air and perhaps some fungus too. Anyways, very annoying regardless!

M

I have the same problem but I self-medicate with Kailash, works wonders.

Try simply increasing you’re fluid intake. I can suffer a dry nose after snuffing too if I don’t keep myself properly hydrated.

T

Thanks for the additional replies guys. The keeping hydrated issue is interesting. I’ll keep an eye on that.

Yes, thanks for the hydrating tip; that really makes a difference. I always keep a little jar of Purepotions ‘Skin Salvations’ handy too. It works! Out and about, I take an organic lip salve stick; a minuscule amount keeps me snuffing without any worries.
