I’ve always suffered from stuffed sinuses. Been to the DR and they give me Anti-Biotics and the infection goes away than within a week it’s back. Since I started Snuff I’ve noticed that my nose has cleared up apart from occasionally being clogged by Snuff. So the question is has the snuff killed the Bacterial Infection. Anyone else had my experience.
From what I can gather, many on here have experienced the same thing. I do not suffer from any sinus issues, so I can’t relate. Tobacco does have some antiseptic properties to it, so maybe that has a part in it.
I’ve been snuffing for almost a year now, and I’ve not had so much as a cold. I usually get at least 1-2 colds per winter.
If you use alot of menthols, menthol has an anaestetic and antiinflamatory properties. The tobacco would also help to dry up the sinus by moisture absorbtion which would help with stuffyness and post nasal drip. Snuff has entirely cured my PND in a few months of use. I’ve suffered with it for years.
You know it’s funny because I remember seeing an old ad posted somewhere on snuffhouse (actually a link to some old snuff stuff) anyway the ad said “Use snuff. It prevents the flu”. I can say that since using snuff my colds and flu have been drastically reduced- while everyone else around me was pretty sick. I’m not saying…but still…I couldn’t help thinking of that ad.
I’ve been a snuffer for almost ten years, and I haven’t had a single cold or case of the flu the whole time. Obviously, tobacco is medicinal, just like the herbs they sell at my local Medical Marijuana Dispensary. Btw, marijuana makes a truly terrible snuff.
I wonder if it also has something to do with blowing the gunk out of our noses on a regular basis? I am over 40 and have never been able to blow my nose well or completely until I started snuff. I’m sure tobacco kills some bugs, but is it possible that we clean our sinuses out enough to purge the rest of the little nasties?
@DustyMustache It does work though. Cakes the nostrils quite badly. I find collecting the kif from the bottom of your grinder and mixing that in with some menthol snuff does the trick.
ermtony, That’s it!!! I can’t believe you found it!!! I think a lot of it is that snuff keeps the nose and sinuses dryer and thus less prone to letting infections/viruses get a stronghold.
I have had fewer sinus headaches, and those I have when I awaken are gone in a jiffy after taking some snuff, however, I have not seen a reduction in colds, though this is partly because I work around sick people so am exposed at a higher frequency. Snuff is used for pesticide, so I’m sure microbes are harmed by it to some extent. Also, wetting an insect bite and spreading some snuff on and about it, kills the itch.
I’ve had 1 sinus infection since I’ve started using snuff. It lasted about 2 days. Normally they last closer to 2 weeks and I have to go to the doctor to get medication.
Well, as Ermtony might expand upon, the local British chemist (pharmacist around these parts) sold snuff partly for the medical uses did he not? The big thing for me is staying off cigarettes: my immune system just can’t deal with the constant inhaling of tobacco smoke. And snuff, snus, and my pipe are such a big help!
If you “toast” the pot first it will not be as sneezy. Very good 50/50 with snuff. 350" for 5" in a sealed foil does it.
Bish777 I agree. DustyMustahce I disagree with you last sentence.
Snuff doesn’t kill bacteria, but cheese and bacon might.
@ Roderick, modern chemical manufacturers make wonderful anti flea concoctions. No sense in wasting snuff on my dogs.LOL Plus my largest pooch has a thing for bacon, she’d probably OD licking it all the C&B off herself, and I’d look funny snorting snuff off my dog.
Coming up this week on 60 Minutes: Evil tobacco companies actually RUB SNUFF ON CHILDREN!
Or: “Big tobacco tries to snuff out your pet! Tonight at 11!”
@Juxtaposer, hopefully I will stand corrected sometime early this afternoon.
