Does anyone else cough?

Its not going to my throat or anything by the way, but the burn in the nose makes me cough instead of sneeze, does it do this to any of you? I’m presuming the strength of the burn will taper off with use, buts its kinda funny really. the old gal said I looked like a drug addict when she saw me taking a sniff the first time, watery eyes and all.

Oh, that happened to me when I started (any non-coarse snuff made me cough almost every time I took them, and it was really annoying). I think it happens because some of the snuff gets into the lungs, but I’m not sure. Don’t worry, after some time time you learn how to stop doing that instinctively (you can try to be extremely delicate when you sniff, and don’t keep inhalating for more than an instant, but it’ll end up disappearing on its own anyways). Well, good luck! And don’t be discouraged by it.

Heh, thanks mate. The taste is far too good to be discouraged though. Hell my first two thoughts on trying my first sniff (Rose) were 1. “I’ve FINALLY found the perfect rose flavoured tobacco!” and 2. “This is the best thing to happen to tobacco since some Indian bloke said ‘What would happen if we smoked that?’” Honestly I wish I had found snuff years ago. I’ve been smoking for. … how old am I. . . about 11 years now give or take, didn’t find cigars until 5 years in, pipes at 10, and now snuff. . .which I might very well call the best tasting at 11. Oh yeah and snus this year too, but I’m not sure I like it, for one after I used up what I bought to try the next day I actually -craved- it, and I’ve never craved tobacco in my life, I didn’t like the feeling on tiny bit so I bought some gum and said to hell with snus. …

I occasionally cough snuffing fine dry stuff.

I sometimes throat and cough when snuffing toasts or sp’s while drinking, kind of loose co-ordination thing. Really embarrassing in company after you’ve explained how great snuffing is! No problems while sober.

Just introduced an old friend of mine to snuff! And his girlfriend :stuck_out_tongue: . Neither of them coughed, but that’s probably because I was nice and let them have a sniff of some beginner stuff

For most if not all new snuff users, any unpleasant effects wear off with perseverance - and its well worth persevering with - for those of us that can just not live happilly without tobacco snuff is a real Godsend. Worth experimenting with types, pinch sizes and flavours and it will come good in the end. We’ve all been there at some point so don;t worry.

Yes I do.

I still cough occasionally but it’s nowhere near as severe as it was when I started snuffing 6 months ago. Your nose will acclimatize, just hang in there.

I still do, however, to me, even coughing is not unpleasant anymore. It’s not like I’m choking on snuff. -Kidnapper

Happens to me too, although not as much as it used to. I use mostly Toque snuffs.
