Had to visit the doctor normal stuff check weight (oh i wish they never did that) blood pressure (well at my age it will be high) etc. Normal question’s do you drink “only when i can afford it i.e not often” then the do you smoke (if a smoker got within 20 foot on me i can tell smelly or what) no i said i gave that up for snuff years ago. “SNUFF” he said no one uses snuff now days surely where on earth would you get it from and he went on and on i wish i never mentioned it. Wonder why people act so surprised i think more of us should make a point of letting people notice and get it talked about more there must be quite a lot of us about still. Don’t hide it let people see let’s show that there is still a strong snuff community out there, and don’t mention it to the doctor
While I was trying to get an referral to a cardiologist, my doctor asked me the same questions… here is how it went: Doctor: Any alcohol? Me: Seldom, sometimes beer. D: Coffee? M: Yes, two strong a day. D: Cigarettes? M: No, but I take nasal snuff. D: How much do you take? M: Much. Really very much. D: And what does it give to you? M: Pleasure. D: Alright. I think you should restrict coffee, just drink it not so often. Few weeks later, while I was visiting her again, referring to our previous conversation, she said that I should just buy some nasal drops. And that’ all, my doctor is cool.
I see here that the health dictators are now recomending vaping over smoking and no mention of snuff ever in these articles. They say now that it’s best to use gum or patches or if you must vaping, even while still smoking to at least cut down and even that it’s safe to use these pure NRT’s for 5 years. Finally as usual they announce what everyone was already doing. Still they have really changed the record from must quit totally as they say many people just cannot do it. Then I believe vaping is getting banned in France and there are something like 500 000 vaping users or vapers maybe they are called? I think vaping is going to grow and grow but I personally prefer real tobacco as with snuff. Just waiting for the tax to be piled onto vaping as the government will lose so much revenue from smoking taxes that practically fund the health service, yet they demonise smokers, and they don’t mind at all about all the car polution that everyone breaths more and more. It all stinks of total hypocrisy. I would keep snuff under the radar or it’s going to get hammered with 900% tax, or banned. My dentist asked me yesterday about taking medication and I said none. Snuff didn’t occur to me as being medication? It was only a checkup and clean so not sure why they even ask. I’m sure they just have to cover their ass like everything these days. I never said when I took NRT either. Didn’ think it was really relevant. Should I tell them about herbs in meals I eat? or list all the chemicals in shampoos etc
My Doctor is completely happy that I am no longer a 2 pack a day cigarette smoker. Mentioned Snuff, Snus, Moist Snuff, and Long leaf Chew. His only comment was “Good” stay away from cigarettes, they’re killers.
I had a doctor tell me that I should quit the chaw because although being much safer then cigs. He was pretty laid back about it, more of a I can’t fully condone it.
I use snuff with the blessings of my Ear, Nose & Throat doctor! When I told him how well it worked as a decongestant without the possibility of drug interactions he said that I should, by all means, use snuff.
I don’t use doctors they only PRACTICE MEDICINE ! And now the gov wants me to buy health insurance that I will never use. That is going to cut into my TAD & PAD budget.

I have been vapering now for about 8 months and well into it i now own 3 pipes and in the evening i really do enjoy relaxing in front of the TV with my favorite Peterson Highlander specially converted e-pipe. We do believe the tobacco industry is worried and as probably paid off a few EMPs and they are trying to get the euro market to ban it soon. I think if snuff was more popular and readily available they would have tried to ban that years ago or put a heavy tax on it. Truncated by Xander for being too political.

I am looking at maybe getting an epipe or one of those big ecig things, whatever they are called. I stopped smoking with snuff for a few months then had a relapse but now I’m off them again (partly because I really cannot afford them and I am mindful of the bad lung effect as I inhale the small cigars) with using snuff so it might be that I could have the occasional cigar maybe every two weeks or so and then I might lose interest in them all together. Snuff could well be all I need? Also truncated by Xander for political TOS violation

If your interested in vaper join http://ukvapers.org/ What i will say is i first tried a cheapo e-cig did not vaper well and short battery life very disappointing then i join the forum read more got better equipement and tried different e-liquids now settled i dont use it outside the house. So i use snuff mostly and in the evening a mixture but i bought good quality handmade e-pipes and really love the feeling of using the pipe when i relax
In a monetary system doctors can’t really be trusted. If a doctor tells you you need surgery how can you be sure you really need it or if the doctor is just trying to pay off his yacht.

Who can you trust in a “monetary” system? Bankers? Lawyers? Mechanics? Government? Should we convert the medical field to a barter system? Trade your yacht straight up for a kidney transplant? Oh wait, then only “rich” people could get medical procedures that they don’t need…
My Dr. was happy I quit smoking, she showed no concern for snuff.

The only “payment” a doctor should need is your good health. Doctors should be doctors solely because they want to help people NOT because they want to become rich. When Dr. Jonas Salk invented the cure for polio what did he ask in return? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! He found a cure for polio solely because he wanted to help people and made his cure FREE to anyone who needed it and never once did he ask for a dime for all the years of hard work he put into it, helping people was the only reward he wanted, he was a REAL doctor and I’m afraid the last of a dying breed.
At least in the US doctors have high costs of education and insurance. The specialists make the money. The general practitioners don’t clear much more than a good engineer or decent computer programer and work long hours. Unless they own a practice and have others working for them. To get back on topic my doc knows I snuff. Says it’s better than the cigars I was smoking.
Hello friends, just wondering if I could pass a “smokers” mouth swab test for my insurance company.
@CousinStuffy if it’s life insurance you die and they determined you used tobacco products they won’t pay. And it is written in the Surgeon Generals report that people who smoke pipes live longer than non smokers and more interesting reading http://www.forces.org/Archive/evidence/132-Chapter+07+The+Surgeon+Generals+Reports.html Also seen reports on oral tobacco cancer http://cro.sagepub.com/content/15/5/252.full The risk is lower than you think. Goes to show the insurance companies are out to take more of your money [compared to non tobacco user] regardless of the facts. Gazing into the future; They will say if you don’t belong to a health club and don’t have quarterly doctor examines your rate will go up. also determined to your body fat, muscle ratio, height/weight and education level. They may go as far as examining your grocery receipts to see what you eat. Think about that next time you swipe your club card at the market or pay with a card at restaurants ; all this info is computerized, not just to send you coupons. Paranoid not me, I know for fact everyone is under the microscope. Just be honest you’ll sleep better >-)
As Democritus say: “Throw moderation to the winds, and the greatest pleasures bring the greatest pains”. and here come Cleobulus to complete that “pan metron ariston” meaning more or less that excellence is to be found in the balance and not in the size of things. (as our Ancient Ancestors used to say)
Thank you @basement_shaman You linked some stellar information and I agree with you whole hardly that the “TRIBUNAL” and “General Crozier” are always watching and plotting. I ask purely for short term gains. Currently I pay $100 more a month because when I took my examination for Health Insurance I tested positive as a smoker via a mouth swab. I was a smoker at the time and was hoping an e cig would help me pass, niete. I know I can give up pipe smoking for a month if necessary but the question still remains…Do you think I could pass for a non smoker in the eyes of my current health insurance examiner whilst using nasal snuff regularly?
I actually work in a hospital; one of the attending doctors is interested in doing a very ambitious project involving giving e-cigarettes out to smokers seen in the ER to get them to quit. I’ll have to mention nasal snuff to him the next time I see him, though I doubt they’d start giving out a crude powdered tobacco product to patients
@horus92 That does sound ambitious, I hope he is successful. I myself had no luck quitting with the aid of e-cigs. My cravings for nicotine were finally controlled when I began snuff. Without a doubt anyone who is currently a smoker of cigs have a lot to gain by switching to a safer alternative.
@I_snuff_therefore___ I worked at a dental clinic and it’s standard procedure to ask you if you take medication. Some meds may interfere with any potential local anaesthetics and some meds will make you bleed too much for any potential work to be done.
