Depends on the snuff. But less is best. Once you cover the skin in your nose it can only absorb so much. More than needed just goes down your throat and is digested. Also when using nicotine your body build up a tolerance. So when you reduce the tolerance you enhance the effects of smaller amounts. If it make you happy to do large amounts. Be happy.This is my experience but what do I know? This is your journey you pick the trail to travel. Enjoy life any way you like we are only here a short time   8-X

What Basement_Shaman said makes sense to me, but I still end up going for the biggests pinches I can handle (which often times aren’t very big).  I once dumped out way too much mentholated snuff in my boxcar, and I accidentally took it all way far up one nostril.  I didn’t entirely regret it.

I agree that it depends on the snuff and with experimentation you find the right amounts to use.

Hmmmm.  “Big” is in the eye of the beholder.  Just ask my wife.

I usually fill one of those old Mr. Snuff stainless steel spoons for each nasal snuff channel, also known as ‘nostrils’.  I fill the spoon’s bowl to the brim, dump it on the back of my wrist and have at it.

I tend to sniff short and shallow, so I don’t get much back drip, but some snuffs make my snout drip profusely so I keep a beach towel handy.  Back drip is something I recall from my misspent youth, but that’s about it.

It’s also one of the reasons I like a chaser; once the first pinch has settled in, a follow up can make everything balance out.

Every time I take snuff I always do at least 2 applications into each nostril. Trying to fit it all in one application does not work well I’ve learned. HDT (and the like) is one where I make more smaller applications - usually 3-4. 

I’m guessing .25g bumps.  

I use about the size of a smashed pea. I don’t know about grams since I don’t typically use the metric system unless I’m forced to.

I just take a pinch and put it to both nostrils. I don’t know how to measure the pinch. If I use any other method, I propably consume much more per sniff.

.25 to .5 when at home.  I chain snuff at home.

@SkeG I have the same problem. It is a snuff definitely in my re-up rotation. I need more myself. But man the shipping is so expensive from Mr.Snuff. When I order from MrSnuff I like to order more than just a few items to make shipping count. But then the more you add that shipping cost goes way up. I’ve had shipping up to $89.00 man I just couldn’t do it lol Please MrSnuff if youz can please bring the free shipping over $100 lol… I love MrSnuff don’t get me wrong just wish the shipping options were more lower. They have a great selection and have always treated me good with customer service and mail parcels out the same day and they also have great communication.

Generally it’s smaller pinches for me, although there are some snuffs where I’ll quite happily take (at least) one large pinch each side. Berwick Brown and Jaxons SP Premium spring to mind. Often I’ll take a decent sized pinch, but snuff it in smaller amounts. 1/4 of the pinch on one side, then the other, then wait a second or two before repeating.

Huge is good.

Smaller for the fine ground snuff, but larger for the course grind. So what that means is a long handled MrSnuff snuff heaping spoon full of course snuff, and half of that for fine ground snuff. It’s true of course that one’s nose can only absorb so much Nicoteen from snuff, but I like the smell of a bunch of snuff up my nose

I like to use a BIG pinch.  I go back and forth between my nostrils several times until I have a good burn going.

Coarse snuff i pinch big and put it in one nostril and repeat for the other.
Fine snuffs I still pinch as much as I can hold and go back and forth between nostrils. Not sure why i do this but I do.

It really depends on what kind of snuff Im using. The type determines if I take bigger bumps, or multiple smaller bumps. When Im taking Poschls Gawith Apricot I take the biggest bump I can. If I take too many smaller ones with that one the menthol stays up front and doesn’t allow the apricot to shine. With drier finer grind tobaccos like the American styles I take multiple smaller bumps. I cant take too big of bumps with those yet.
