Personally, I find it unpleasant and offputting. I don’t snuff for paiin but for pleasure. Why do people like the burn?
The “burn” is a general indication of nicotine uptake. As a nicotine addict I must say that I love the burn. Once you blur the line between pleasure and pain there may be no turning back.
Interesting. Didn’t know that.
Each to their own i say, but, i love the burn and feel i am missing out if the snuff doesn’t have one/or much of one. Don’t you like a hot curry? That’s pleasure through pain. Or when a woman gives you a good hard slap? Anyway, you get the idea.
yes I do love curry and being ass slapped by a lady. just not so keen on burning nostrils. hehe
Love a burn from extra hot 'n spicy food! Also a moderate+ burn from snuff.
I have no problem with a slight burn - it is just part of snuff taking and in some ways quite refreshing. But I have no desire to try some of the snuffs that are available these days that some reviewers say have so much burn that they are reduced to tears. To carry on with the curry reference I also enjoy reasonably hot curries but usually with a more moderate dish on the side and with cooling raita and a pint of cold lager. I can’t see the point of curries that are so hot that I all I get is the heat and it is impossible to taste the actual food. And while I can take a good swig of lager with the food I can’t really sniff lager into my nose following a pinch of snuff. :))

That’s what the tears are for. Cooling the nose through evaporation.

I am sure you are correct but I am still not going to be trying any of the Fubar snuffs. I see them, and various others, referred to as brutal and from the reviews that I have read that is what they are. I prefer to be more gentle with my nose. But that is the great thing about snuff these days. There is a vast range available so there is something to suit all tastes. The range of very strong snuffs seems to be increasing all the time so there is clearly a demand for them and if other people like them then that is fine by me - live and let live. I will stick to the gentler varieties.
The grunt, medic and r’n’r aren’t brutal with the burn. Can’t say about any of the new ones though…
That’s how you know its working. Lol
As long as the “burn” isn’t intense i like it. I use the sensation as a short break from whatever i were doing, focusing on the taste of the snuff as well as the burn. A version of mindfulness i guess you could say.
FUBAR snuffs don’t burn. Well, not at least for me. I love the FUBAR range.
I like the burn, but not when I feel it all the way in the back of my head as with Dholakia White. I wish this snuff was just a little less brutal. I like the scent, and some days the burn isn’t as bad, but most of the time Dholakia White just hurts me.
All you snuffers stay away from those brutal snuffs, MORE FOR ME. I eat habanero and scotch bonnets off the vine. And make hot sauce with them. I put that stuff on most everything. It takes time to build resistance to such delights. Like the D White and my new staple Willie Pete & Doolau Tap but the Bohica is the bomb. It is much more than a nicotine burn I want to use it in making fudge.Sprinkle it on Ice cream. Stir it in my milk .The chocolate is awesome in this one.
burn? What is that? Haven’t felt the burn in years. Glad it’s gone. It comes mostily from the blood vessels near the capilaries constricting rapidily due to the effects of the nicotine.
Love the burn. Especially HDT’s.

I ate a scotch bonnet once for a dare in the pub, my face went numb! Never experienced pain like it, but it was oddly satisfying in a strange kind of way! lol. I don’t mind a quick burn from snuff, only one that has made me say never again was Dhol white, Dhol black I do like though, doesn’t hurt as much lol.
@basement_shaman can you PM me some recipes for Habs or SB’s hot sauces. I have both plants and the chilis need something doing with them or they’ll spoil. I don’t eat them raw, just occasionally dice bits of them into other foods. However, I need a way to use my over abundance.
You could dry them, maybe crush them into flakes. I’ve managed to dry chillis just sitting on the countertop. Just wash them and put them on a couple of layers of paper towels on a plate. They do just fine without any added heat, or fans to increase air circulation. Give them a week or two…

I didn’t know that. Interesting.
I hate to say it but I like the burn. It has to be right. I have a snuff from India that will burn you to the ground and make your nostrils flow like the Ganges. Hate it. I have a snuff called Toque Quit that feels just right. If I get crazy with it…it feels like like getting rolled by a wave at Sebastian Inlet. Being a Florida native I’m okay with it and it takes me back. I like a snuff like Quit that only punishes me and encourages respect instead of trying to kill meh…

The D WHite has kicked my ass so many times…why do I keep going back? Reminds me of a stripper that would never go home with me but she would give me $100 lap dances for free. She liked my tact…and I wanted to like/love/lust her…it just didn’t work out. But I got the D. White on top of the curio for the Zombie Apocalypse. Vitamin N will be scarce. I got my stash in that little plastic tin…

IT GOES AWAY?! NO!! I like my burning. I know what you say is true because Copenhagen used to burn my lip. I wanna slow my Vitamin N down. I want it to burn forever. Thanks to snuff I snuff when I want. With “dip” I was addicted like one of Pavlov’s dawgs…

BAMF if I ever met one…
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I hardly notice a burn any longer. I would probably notice one if I try one of the snuffs with hot pepper in it.
what is that “burn”? I don´t have any burn-like feelings while taking my snuffs…what I love is “kick” or “hit” that makes Sparrow and few others…
I haven’t become accustomed to things like BOHICA and Doolali yet, but the traditional snuff burn is quite enjoyable for me. It happens less than it used to, and takes a finer/drier snuff than before. There are still some (WP) that can set my scalp on fire and make me weep, but I always go back for more. It’s a sick and twisted thing I’ve developed over time, and it doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Burn = the best Deep Purple song ever >:)
@Mr_O thanks, I do have strings of them hanging up and in jars, and pickled, but I don’t use them fast enough that way. I do need a good hot sauce recipe, since I buy/use a lot of it and am often out. Extra peppers and a need for sauce have led me to the conclusion that I should make my own.
It would be good to have a decent hot sauce recipe, most of the ones out there have too much vinegar for me. I’m planning on making some chili oil with quite a bit of mine.
I enjoy the burn as well. I even like the peppery burn I get from certain snus like General Extra Stark Lös.
As a noob, my technique is still inconsistent, and I still end up with dry snuffs in my throat at times. But when I nail it, I do get a very pleasant burn. My next acquisition will include some stronger varieties that I see you veterans going to. Can’t wait to try Grunt, Dragun, and a few others.
Hey is the burn really the nic uptake?
@Chef_Dean …Not in itself but the indication of it. In other words the effect of the nicotine. Although it may also be the alkalinity of snuff that is doing some burning too.
@Juxtaposer Thank you Sir, Man I love this forum!
@Honza777 I think you mean Speed King. Although Burn is a good one too.
@TomStrasbourg I’m sure he actually meant “Hush”

:)) :-j =))
Menthol snuffs seem to burn more, so I don’t think it’s just nicotine. But yes, I like the burn.
I reallllly got burnt; my first scalp burn was brutal- i had only been snuffing for 2 1/2 weeks, …I had no reason to think anything like this would occur, I took a second pinch in disbelief that it could or would happen again, and Ouch! But OMG too funny looking back
