Do you find snuff is better with a snuff spoon? I just bought a silver antique one which looks awesome. It just seems so much better from a spoon! http://img62.imageshack.us/i/imagesks.jpg/
It just depends on the snuff, but yes, some snuffs are way more enjoyable for me from a spoon.
I prefer the thumb and forefinger method; however, the dryer snuffs are very nice with a spoon in my opinion.
I like using a spoon. I made one from sterling that has a crook on the handle end that I can hang in front of my bench at work and use it all the time. That’s a lovely spoon you scored there, yummysnuff!
I am the same as Dogwalla, it depends. If a snuff usually lands on my clothes then I like a spoon.
I do not find that snuff is better with a snuff spoon. I find that it is the same. I am perfectly willing to do whatever it takes to get a snuff immediately into my nose whatever the method. I have spoons in a few F&T tubes, one in my open Maccoboy and quite a few with my snuff bottles. Oh, and some in my bags of Schmalzler.
I both pinch and spoon but I have to say I think the spoon gives a wider spread in the nostril and consequently a stronger smell. I pinch when out but at home I always spoon, except for very coarse snuffs. So yes, I think the spoon is superior to the punch. Just imo of course.
I use a spoon to do navigate the snuff of the tin to my hand.I consider my hand as the best ‘biotope’ for snuff aromas.
does anyone like the acrylic bullets? So easy to fill one and throw it in your pocket, especially if you work someplace where tobacco products are forbidden. I like the convenience and discretion the bullet offers, plus the snuff always ends up where you intend it to go.
The problem with the bullet is the insanely small dose. I’d much rather take a big pinch or two or tap a nice sized pile onto my hand. So they are really only good for travel, and only if you have reservations about snuffing in public, though a few do thing they work well when driving.
hadn’t thought about that. The small dose hasn’t bothered me yet 'cause I’m a newb.
the way to up the dose on a bullet is to turn it two or three times while holding your finger over the hole after the last loading turn the knob so that it is closed (ready to accept snuff but not to release it.) then you have three loads instead of one. Works wonders it does and can be used with coarser snuffs.
Now that I have that stainless steel turn tin, It is my favorite way to carry snuff. I started sniffing Poschls, and most of them came in tap boxes, so I am very used to taking snuff off the back of my hand. However at home I tend to use my stainless steel snuff spoon.
@bob you sir, are a genius. Thats the a very simple solution to a long standing problem. The only problem now, is my Cheeta will disappear at an alarming rate.
it helps sometimes
Naa… My “snuff spoon” is my thumbnail.
I have spoons that I use once in a while. I prefer the pinch method.
Snuff spoons are just an alternative, but not as effective imo, I use it just for a change. Because of the rush of air that carries the snuff, it affects placement in the nostril, and can take it down the throat. Whereas with the pinch, you can press the tips of the fingers to your nostrils and choose the angle lessening the amount of air rushing in.
I think if I had snuff spoons bigger than the freebies from mr snuff I’d like me more. Compared to those my fingers or the black of the hand is much better mainly because I can get as much as I want for each nostril
Don’t particularly care for a spoon, I prefer the exact control of snuff with the pinch.
Dude, I usually pinch, but some snuffs aren’t very pinch-friendly. The stainless steel snuff spoon on Mr. Snuff is phenomenal. I love it and it’s completely changed my mind about snuff spoons.
So far most of what I snuff off of a spoon goes too far back. Though I do use my spoon all the time, I just pinch of it as I’m not too fond of pinching directly from the tin. I have some coarser snuffs on the way so it will be interesting to see how they manage to take from a spoon.
I’ve never taken to the pinch method, maybe it’s because my hands are always so dirty!? But I do like my Czech pipe tool spoons, always have one with me in the pocket watch pocket of my jeans (don’t know what to call that pocket) along with my brass snuff container (and that’s usually got some O&G in it). The spoon definitely lets me control the size of the hit. More times than not, I am a tapper, though. The empty Gawith Apricot containers are my go to appliance to that method.
I like using a spoon when i’m at home, but I wouldnt ever carry one.
The only spoon I’ve really been comfortable using was the one which came with my tripletech, and it seems to have sprouted legs at some point. Without a decent length handle, preferably rounded, I find snuff spoons incredibly awkward to hold. Cool as a curiosity, but it’s very rare I find myself thinking I absolutely must use one.
I pinch and back of hand out in public and spoon in private.
im beginning to find this to be true ji think if the spoon could be heated prior to insuflation would help. do you use a spoon in public. i find myself jumping back and forth between the pinch and a spoon
I cannot express to you how much of a game changer this is for me. I would sit there and do two or three bumps in a row per nostril to get a enough to call it satisfying but doing it this way is truly exactly what my nose needs. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and to the bottom of my bullet.
Yeah, this is a new one on me! I will try this in the future.
Good stuff.
I like a spoon on snuff with a lot of moisture (e.g. F &T Princes).
