need tin openers?

Can’t find any obvious way to open them.

Also, all I currently have are big mason jars I was using for cigars to store them in. Will they be OK in these as I presume I can’t just leave the tins opened after using a tin opener?.

No, you just need to find the edge of the lid, i use a sharp knife and gently open it upwards. It should pop open with a bit of lifting.
