Dio dead at 67

Ronnie James Dio died today at 67 years old.

The greatest heavy metal singer ever I saw him with Heaven and Hell last year , incredible voice and a very nice guy. Such a sad day for the metal scene. Damn i will spend the rest of the day listening tho his classics.

Just read this. A sad sad day. Peace Ronnie James…

Horns up for Ronnie!

Great shame, hopefully he’s in a band with Hendrix and a few others though now.

Ah man! That blows. Time to bust out my Dio stuff and give him a proper send off. :frowning:

OH MY GOD! I can’t believe it! This makes me ***VERY*** sad. I heard he was sick or he had to cancel a tour some months ago or something due to illness but it didn’t seem that bad. He was Italian; his real name was Ronald Padavona (his Italian immigrant parents likely had their name corrupted at Ellis Island from Padovana). He coined the headbanging “horns”, because that is actually a superstitious sign in Italy you make to “ward off” evil spirits. If someone mentions something unpleasant, unlucky, disastrous or that you don’t like, then to “ward it off”, you’d make the sign of the horns. My mother actually makes the “horns” any time Hilary Clinton’s image appears anywhere. Mrs Clinton is mom’s least favorite person on earth and the sight to her is unbearable. To cancel out her perceived level of extreme malignancy, she lets off a good set of “corna” (horns) aimed right at her likeness to undo the bad luck of aforementioned sighting, but that is a long story… Of note, my favorite album of his was Mark II Black Sabbath’s “Mob Rules”. While I like the charm of the earlier Ozzy Sabbath Mark I material, overall I feel that the best Black Sabbath was actually in the early 80’s during the Dio years. If you haven’t listened to Mob Rules, try listening to the songs online/youtube in loving memory. Also interesting is his Elf stuff. I will miss him dearly.

He is one of my favorite metal singers. I love his stuff with Rainbow and Sabbath. I’ll miss 'em. R.I.P. Dio

Yeah Mob Rules is amazing. The Sign of the Southern Cross is one of my favorite Sabbaths songs

He was in my opinion the greatest. I got to see him in concert a few years ago, he was amazing. He will be missed.

Damn man, what the hell will we listen when Lemmy, Ozzy, Bruce,Alice, Iommi , Butler (and a few others) leave us 50 cent, Coldplay or Shakira i guess :<

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds
