Dear ladies and gentlemen of the snuff house forum, I truly need your advice. Having been absent from the forum for a long time, I have no one around me with the same passions as you all have. I routinely use, from a dwindling supply and in this order: Elmo’s Reserve, Auld Alliance, Cremé de Fig, and Hedge’s L260. Whilst going through my collection, I found an unopened glass container of Abraxas Café 11 next to a container of what is left of Dream Catcher. My question is, should I open the Café 11 or save it for my retirement, as my daughter suggests? Retirement is roughly 4 years away.

I say save it for special occasions, I have a half jar of Cafe 11 squirreled away.

Hi Banjo,
Open the Cafe 11 and learn making your own! Start now, and you’ll become a master snuffmaker by your retirement.

If your Cafe 11 is like mine it is a solid block of snuff. I occasionally will scrape off a pinch and it is still good. The flavor has changed a bit but it definitely has not faded like some snuff will. If I were you I would just check it to make sure it is okay, I don’t think this snuff had molding issues like some, and then put it away for special occasions and go at it once you retire. Good luck and hopefully I can retire about 4 years after you.

Carpe diem, open it!

Listen to your daughter. Her opinion is more important then any snuff.
