I just picked up a nice old copper box from that auction site and was wondering about the prevalence of copper as a snuff box material. Of course, we are all very familiar with silver, tin, wood, and papier mache, but what is the deal with copper? I haven’t come across it very often in boxes. Your thoughts, please?
Here is the link to the box in question:

I don’t know much abut copper boxes.
But, I am curious about the effect of oxidization of the copper over time on the snuff carried inside.
@nightcap I would second the curiousness. If you carried a moist snuff in it wouldn’t it turn all funky green on the inside and contaminate the snuffy goodness??
That is a good question. As some of the F&T snuffs are quite moist, I am going to have to conduct some experimentation once I get the box. I will post results to this thread. It could end up being a HDT box only.
