A couple threads, not much else on these. Any opinions and/or comparisons?
I’ve sampled all of them. They are a very fine and sometimes complicated snuff to take. Good nicotine punch. If you take your time with them they are enjoyable.
It seems Dholakia can only do one type of grind. Limited by their machinery I suppose. A very nice consistent fine grind can be found in all their snuffs. The variables being oiling, which swells the granules a bit, putrefaction, which causes the breakdown into super fine as with their white, and now toasting, which weakens the cell structures that would otherwise withstand such grinding. I have not tried their Black but I would guess it fits into this theory. I think they would benefit from a more flexible grinding system. Those toasts don’t need to be so fine and their White snuff would be amazing if it was not pulverized into dust. @Namrata
I can’t wait to try these. Love toasts. Love Dholakia.
The weaponized smoke like grind is a detriment to enjoying these toasts, other than that major control problem, it has potential. Juxt hit the nail on the head,
I personally prefer the fine grind…coats the nostril better for maximum tobacco distribution. As for the Toasts, I only have High Dry and Super Strong. The high dry uses the Sparrow Green as a base tobacco (which is excellent in my opinion) and simply toasts it. Excellent snuff but not for beginners as mentioned in the comments above, the grind is super fine.
The super strong is the same with the added bonus and potency of Dholakia White mixed in (could be completely wrong with that assumption, but at least that is what I get out of it). I think this is my favorite of the two that I have.
I thought the same thing when I used several of the new dholakia toast varieties courtesy of @Slide. What came to my mind was “This is how that weaponized anthrax must have been that went through the post a few years ago…”
Honestly, I don’t get much smell from them when I whiff the container… Im assuming that the amount of inhalation it takes to even “smell” them is equal to or greater than the force required to snuff them. Honestly, Im not a big fan of a grind like this… Sorry, looks like I wont be trying white.
which of these is the one people suspect of being the Fubar base, toasted?
I believe the Extra strong to be very close to a toasted Fubar. I cannot detect any DW mixed in, but who knows. Damn hard to take though, the grind will get the deal done quick though, Yowza!
Yeah I’ve only cracked open the Medium Dry Toast. Even that is pretty tough to take.
Whalen may be correct with the Fubar being the base of the Super Strong, after revisiting it with the Fubar comment in my mind I definitely seem to detect it.
Personaly I think the Super Strong Toast is toasted Dholakia White
FUBAR being oiled Sparrow and Toasts being not oiled, wouldn’t these then be more like toasted Sparrow?
Juxt - You would be correct in that this is the same tobacco base, shared by most of the line. I just opened and sampled them all. Shame they over ground it all. Toasted sparrow it is. I just get that certain hint of something very familiar in the Super strong, maybe they just pulled up short in the toasting of this one, and left more of the original flavor. These toasts are way to hard to take to be pleasant for me, but I am sure they will develop a following. You have the nose to sort it out mate. Me, I have developed a WoW coconut toffee jones lately, nose candy, that same tobacco base with amplified flavoring.
@Whalen Perhaps then an oiled toast needs to be created.
Other than the fact that it would screw up the grind, it would be great! I get tired of watching these Dholakia toasts just sit there and smoke when opened.
Id love to try a schmalzed F&T HDT
@whalen I love the WoW Coconut too, however on a different note the Fruitcake I got is a total dud. Its like fubar base without the musk.
@Whalen I’m not following what you said. Changing the grind IS what I’m talking about.
Juxt - Oh, I am all in favor of the grind change and oiling would accomplish that. Sorry. Would cause some beneficial clumping.
Oiling would vastly improve the ability to take this one, would unfortunately have an impact on the nic blast.
These Toasts are a lot like the white, way to fine to control, but have nicotine in spades. At least the toasts have what I consider to be a far more tolerant smell than the white one.
I consider these to be extreme snuffs.
