Medicated is in the new English line of snuffs from Dholakia. The English style snuff tobacco is made from hand picked tobacco leaves without the stems. The tobacco leaves are then ground and mixed with water and pure essential flavors. They are blended according to a composition essential to formulate the tobacco into our famous secret recipe. English Snuff is very friendly to the nose and is ideal for the beginner. It can be called a beginners grind. This is a medium grind, medium moist snuff of medium-dark brown color. It seems to have about medium nicotine content. I would put the medicated tone at a medium level. The very first initial aroma I picked up was a spicy mint which disappeared as soon as the cooling effect kicked in. Once the cooling tones down a bit, there is a pretty decent tobacco tone to be enjoyed with a faint earthy backdrop.
Possibly, but merlin had the texture as ‘very fine’ on his review. This one is definitely medium grind.
I think Filek is right about this one, it tastes excactly the same as the older medicated snuff namrata shipped out. I also think troutstroker is correct though as the texture is nowhere near as fine as the older offering, and in my opinion making this a much easier snuff to enjoy. Well done again namrata. I think I may have to get more of these snuffs soon from you, please tell me where and how I can purchase more of these snuffs as your distinct indian flavor makes them a great change of pace from the other snuffs that really seems to hit the spot…
Stupid question, but I have to ask. Is medicated snuff only taken when you have a cold? Are there benefits to taking it taking it when you are not sick for other ailments? If so what are the other ailments?
The world’s best selling snuff is a medicated snuff: Gletscherprise by Pöschl, and is of course not only used as medicine, you simply get a nice fresh flavour. I use medicated snuff if my nose is clogged, because of my allergies. But only Pöschls Ozona english menthole helps me with that,… don t know why, so i always have some tins stocked. But i still have to check the Dholakia medicated snuffs now…
I am pretty sure Medicated snuff just means it has Menthol in it. Al SnuffReviews.com
Yes, …metholated crystals, eucalyptus oils or camphor. …tobacconists and pharmacies have historically seen a rise in their medicated snuff sales each year when the cold and flu season hits. Medicated snuffs, flavored by using metholated crystals, eucalyptus oils or camphor, once dominated folks’ medicine chests because they were recognized as being a great cure for a stuffy head. The famous Hedges L260 snuff was actually invented by a doctor in Birmingham, England, who created the blend as a prescription for the treatment of colds, hay fever and other similar maladies.
Hedges L260 does it contain metholated crystals, eucalyptus oils or camphor?
I sampled the Dholakia Medicated. I agree that the coarser and more moist grind makes it easy to take. The menthol is a bit light to me but I also got sort of a cola type flavor from it. I’ll probably load this one into my bullet and use as a daily work snuff since its not so strong as to make me run for a tissue after each dose.
I just recently ID’d that as cola after reading a review on Snuffreviews. I can’t believe I snuffed so much of it without realizing it’s cola as obvious as it seems now! Great snuff if a bit on the mild side, but sometimes that’s what I’m looking for anyways.
