I’ve just tried the Camelopard in the new tin. My experience with this one, that was sold in the US a couple of years ago, was fantastic. One of the best perfumal snuffs I’ve ever tried, excelent musk snuff. But the new one has an aniseed aroma, the one that Bezoar used to have. Any other DS snuff changed the aroma or maybe Camelopard is now Bezoar?
that would suck. Though that sounds more like Inch Kenith which was a very musky snuff and the only dean swift I remember being musky.
Inchkenneth was only musky, while Camelopard also had a hint of menthol.
Found this online browsing. Was interesting to see Philip K Dick (one of my favorite authors) was a user of Dean Swift and his favorite was Wren’s Relish.
What I’d like to know is who manufactured them in the 1970s? Were the San Francisco based Dean Swift just rebrand them? I’m aware that Wilson’s of Sharrow made them for a period, but not sure how far back. Dean Swift Snuff Dr Rumney - Hiland's Cigars I’ve never tried it but now seems they are made by McChrystal’s. Not that interested in trying, honestly but I would pick up a tin if I ever found it in a store (which seems doubtful) I did do a bit of poking around but I’d love to hear some comments about their history and what they used to be like back in the day. They even had a High Dry Toast! I wouldn’t be surprised to hear they were made in England and just repackaged.
As far as I remember from previous discussions here, whole DS line was discontinued long ago. I don’t know who owned the brand, but the snuff itself was made in Sheffield.
Here’s one of those threads: Dean Swift
So, all the remaining stock you still might stumble upon stateside is utterly stale. Think 15 years past its shelf life, or even older.
It says “That page doesn’t exist or is private” when I click on the link. So would even Hiland Cigars stock be way old? I figured if McChrystals is making it now it wouldn’t be, but I had no idea. It’s doubtful I’d order any, tho.
Fixed the link.
Worth reaching out to McChrystal’s and asking them if they still make it and when did they cease production (if that’s the case).
You can use the Contact Us form on their website or message them on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mcchrystalsuk/.
P. S. It was made by WoS at least till 2015 Dean Swift Snuff - #32 by nicmizer.
Apparently Dean Swift Dr. Rumney’s now available in the US again (since 2020?) Brand News - Issuu.
this has nothing to do with the thread but I wanted you to share that McCrystals are very active and engage a lot with followers on social media. I made a new twitter account and they follow me back (even though I had no other followers at the moment). Check their “Followers” and “Followings” are equal. They follow back every snuffer that follows them. Nice
