De Kralingse

Have just had a quick look at the De Kralingse website: snuifmolens.nl/index_en.html Interesting how they’re promoting it as a way to study and maintain a part of Dutch and European cultural heritage (well done!). I wish someone would do that with this snuff mill: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorillard_Snuff_Mill Unfortunately, it’s now owned by the New York Botanical Garden, which probably doesn’t want to promote this sort of thing (except perhaps in museum displays), given New York’s strongly anti-tobacco legislation (i.e. high taxes and restrictions on sale). If anyone knows of a wealthy benefactor who might be willing to drop a few million to get it up and running again, do let us know . . .

@Jacobin: Get people (sponsors) interested in the historical aspects of the plant as cultural heritage of a bygone age and make it a “working museum”. That’s how we got started. Jaap Bes.
