According to the receiepe from 1830 this fermented Virginia tobacco is mixed with Cinnamon, Galgantroot, Angelicaroot, Orangepeels and Fernambukwood. Flavoured with Elderberry blossomwater. I read up on some of the things that were unfamiliar to me: Galgant seems to be German for Galangal aka Blue Ginger. That’s fantastic, as I’ve been hoping for a ginger scented snuff.Angelica root is used to flavor some gin and Chartreuse, and is used in Lapland as a medicinal herb. Varieties of the plant seem to be used by a plethora of native northern cultures for various reasons. This one should make ap happy: Fernambuk is German for Pernambuco, the Brazillian State, or more precisely the tree which is more commonly reffered to in English as BrazilwoodI’m pretty sure I’ve smelled that before, it should be nice in a snuff. I’m really looking forward to this one.

Snifs, I can assure you, if not better then at least the same. I polished a 10g tin in just more than 2 days, taking HUGE pinches everytime I opened the tin. Musinotabak and Bolongaro are my 2 favourite Jaap snuffs at present.

I got my sample in last week and while it’s very nice I do prefer the BonBon. It’s kind of hard to go wrong with such an excellent tobacco base though.

Got my sample of Musinotabak. Unlike any other snuff I have tried and that numbers several hundred. I can see this becoming a favorite. I will go through the sample today. Hope Dave gets it in soon. I want to support him because he moved to the UK and is trying to make sure the Yanks can get snuff.

Very nice but sticky needs to be rounded into full batch better. Mulled with fingers of free sample and will try Wed. with coffee time. Very nice in stock form aswell. A/P still is my fave. Times will change?

Words can not express how much I’ve enjoyed Musinotabak. It burns oh so good and the aroma is incredible! Nicotine is above average and goes great w/coffee. This inspires me to try other De Kralingse products. I been reading about the A/P and looking to order it, I can’t find an online shop that carries it…

@zzedo310 Yes they sell directly Mind you Molens is not an online snuff shop. It is a real working mill. As such, it takes about 3-4 days longer for the whole order process (order… pay… arrive). I think Jaap pretty much does everything. That said, the service is prompt and the snuff is fantastic. Give him another day on the email and if he still has not responded, email him again…good chance the first email got zapped in cyber space or lost in the midst of the shuffle @BpB, Jaap whispered me today infact and told me that my sample should have already been here and that if it does not come by week’s end to let him know and he will send it out again…A perfect example of the great service he provides!!!..and for a free sample at that!!!

Thank you Jaap for the sample. I will be sure to purchase some Musintobak with my next order as it is very enjoyable. It arrived quite moist; the dominant scent for me is that of cinnamon and it has a sweetness to it.

I just got my generous sample after a small snafu. OMG this is good! I thought I had enough snuff til death as I placed a bunch of pre-pact orders, but Jaap sends me this! Oh well. This is a 6 star snuff!

Got my sample today. Thanks Jaap! I agree with the above, it’s very much like gingerbread or Dutch ginger cookies, spicy, with a molasses or brown sugar sort of sweetness. And so moist that it’s clinging to the little baggie. I’ll definitely have to order some.

Yay! Got the sample today, THANK YOU JAAP! I could tell before opening the envelope that Musinotobak was going to be a snuff that I would like. The snuff scent escaping the envelope was a rich, dark & sweet tobacco scent. I just took one pinch and wow this stuff has some burn to it! But it smells delicious! I will be including this snuff in my next order! Now for the fun part, repeated sniffing to try and pick out all the flavors that make up this snuff! 10 minutes later: One more thing - what is fernambukwood?? I’ve now sniffed several pinches but have to call it quits, certain snuffs get my palms sweating pretty good and I am at that point which tells me that this snuff delivers the nicotine!

extract of valerian? I take valerian root pills to help me sleep, and man they stink of dirty feet, not sure if I’d try a snuff made from valerian

@Filek: The only recipe I found was in a booklet that was kept in the mill and dates back till 1860. It is a very funny recipe: Take fresh Valerian leaves fill a beerjar with them add winevinegar, let it stand for eight days in the sun and mix it with the tobacco to your satisfaction. I have some Mettaijer in my nose now. This snuff is like nothing else I’ve tried so far. I received a sample and then emmediately phoned Jaap to order 100g. I’m not going to say anymore.

Delicious. Just got the Mettaijer Snuif in this afternoon. While there is a slight vinegar scent, the valerian makes it taste rather sweet overall. The sweetness reminds me of a toned down US Sweet. Very pleasant stuff. Could anyone tell me what sort of containers the DK bulk comes in? I’ve been thinking of stocking up on the Chocomint and Chococreme (and now this), but I want to know if it comes in a bag, a proper tub like WoS bulk, or just a giant version of the DK tappers? Just need to know if I should buy some more glass jars before I place my order, and all.

Jaap, Thank you so much I Just got my sample today. To me Mettaijer is a very nice refined snuff. It is much more subtle than say an AO or AP The one flavor that comes to mind with this snuff is putting your nose in a bag of Brown Sugar Now let me clarify…this is not a sweet/dessert snuff…the flavor is more toasted/caramelized than sweet. I need to spend a little more time with it just to sort out all that is going on…but with every pinch I am coming to love it more and more Regardless, another really good offering that could well become an all day snuff for many
