Custom Tobaciana Stained Glass pieces anyone?

G

Hello all and Merry Christmas; not working glass anymore

G

We’ve also done a set of 4 Green Man pieces-- one for each season – I’ll post pics of them later-- will now attempt to post a couple more–

B

I love hand crafted art. My x made this hard hat for me

G

Do you wear it? – is it like full sized? It looks almost in miniature but that may be this rotten phone (too keeps bumping me off before I can finish message) – ah, I see now-- full size-- I’ll have to take a better look at work on PC-- this phone is too blurry

B

When Required. Although not for many years. But when I had: production would slow and everyone wanted but didn’t spend for custom work.Wrong class of clients ? I should had bought a Harley and had her do gas tanks, now there is a market. They don’t call them starving artists for lack of talent. You have to know what is selling.

G

We ran a custom glass shop for 3 years-- went very well and sold so many pieces I wouldn’t be able to count-- but anymore, I’m back at work and we (mostly “she”; I just cut glass, solder and seal them) just do “special” stuff-- mostly for our own home.

M

nice work! I like Ganesh best, glad to see you included the mouse/rat charioteer, lol.

G

The 4 Green Man pieces. Anyway, these are all just examples-- hope you all enjoy. As I said before-- considering doing some tobacco customs and just wanted to know what you guys think of her work and how it’d fit.

@n9inchnails yes, that was in my head at times said in passing

that is great… wonder what you could do snuff related? everything snuff related seems quite small haha. i have stretched ears (only 6/8mm atm) but i wonder how easy it would be to include stained glass in tunnels. how small can the detail go? (links back to snuff size again i guess haha)

Ha-- true that. I think we are settling on doing a piece of a large tobacco plant of cut and hand-stained (the finer detailed stuff) glass, with a Dutch snuffmill in the background. We will look at putting it in our living room. On size, we have done detail as fine as a postage stamp, so I’m also thinking of doing a few boxes… Still not small enough for your ears, ha. But anyway-- just wanted to share because I thought it might make for some interesting displays.

F

well im on my way up, im wondering if its possible to do it in the 20-25mm range, i think thats where i want to be. as for boxes, you seem to be able to do it small enough definitely. id probably be interested in a box with a nice glass lid, perhaps a tabletop box similar in design to these, but with a glass lid- or perhaps this, with the glass inlay instead of a plain wooden top- (though the big one looks a bit too big) On an extra note, how much do you do the green man ones for?

G

Yeah, I was thinking of doing an inlaid one or two for myself as well.

G

“how much do you do the green man ones for” Unfortunately, we just did the one set for our garden. They turned out excellent – perhaps some time we will do another.

Okay I can finally see the hat clearly (now that I’m at work on pc and NOT the dratted phone) now-- and I have to agree – I also like the Roadrunner through the noggin bit
