To enable their prescience, Guild Navigators not only consume large quantities of the [Grand Cairo Snuff], but are also continuously immersed in highly-concentrated amounts of orange [Grand Cairo Snuff] gas. This level of extreme and extended exposure causes their bodies to atrophy and mutate over time, their heads and extremities elongating. The first external sign of melange-induced metabolic change is visible in the eyes, as the drug tints the sclera and iris to a dark shade of blue, called “blue-in-blue” …This is a common side effect in all [Grand Cairo Snuff] addicts. (with apologies to the estate of Frank Herbert)
HAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! Love it! But in all fairness… It is a good snuff, and from what PhilipS said, it is a revival.
I agree, Xander. STokes’ uncontrollable GREED is very similar to that hideous MONSTER!!! (It is possible he could be guilted out of his stash here after a few sleepless nights. Or at least distracted from his lair long enough for someone to get at it…)
Sigh another snuff I have to search out… More time wasted re watching the scifi version and the extended directors cut of dune. BOO the Guild is not happy.
@Dredbull: It’s extended, but it’s not a director’s cut. Lynch disowned it.
Tom may be able to do a special order before he shuts his doors, and Mr. Snuff can also order it from Wilson’s.
I liked the extended there was some good filler material in it.
The extended version was longer, true, but neither version has everything. The original holds itself together better. I have a DVD here that contains both versions. It also contains a large section of deleted scenes. It would be interesting to see one “master” version that shows everything. It would probably run over 3 hours. The scifi channel mini-series was better in many ways. It was more complete and true to the book. It was not as dramatic though. It had a slower pace. I think I need to get it out and watch it again. Supposedly yet another version is in the works. We shall see.
Lynch was never happy even with his cut. His original vision was to shoot Dune in black and white, paced very slowly and told very abstractly. The producers nixed this idea immediately. That’s really a shame. This has nothing to do with Grand Cairo. Sorry.
What movie are you guys talking about?
Ah, okay. I was too busy trying to look through the Orange Grand Cairo Gas to read it.
Sorry to dredge this back up, but somewhere along the lines cstokes4 failed to commandeer a bulk tub of Grand Cairo! After a significant period of hiding in clandestine locations to evade detection and confiscation, I have declared an all clear since cstokes4 has not retrieved or expropriated it. Yet. Upon study, I think I may have discovered the source of his unhealthy devotion to this snuff, It is really quite exceptional after all. It is hard to ascertain exactly what gives this snuff such presence, and the bulk proportions have done nothing to diminish its curious potency. I agree that calling this another SP is selling it short, rather, it has a blend of citrus and spice with a hint of a natural perfume, but just a tantalizing wave over it. This my friends is a fiendish blenders triumph, Beguiling and yet discomforting, the blend confuses and refuses to present itself as individual components, just exists as ghostly scent memories in dusty regions of the mind. What it does have is quite remarkable in the nose. And the softness of the grind is made velvet with moisture. The smoked paprika description will suffice as for color. I find it peppery in the nose, just so, although time has made this pleasurable to me. As I am unable to further deconstruct the components which compile this muse of a snuff, I am left only with the urge to recommend that you treat yourself to this one while a supply exists. And remember that others here will try to make that difficult. You know who you are.
Good post @Whalen. I have a drum too, that I’ve managed to keep out of Stokes’ hands. One thing I am certain it contains is lavender, but there’s a lot more going on there too.
Whalen I take it you like it then?
There, reloaded cstokes picture which did mot make the trip to the new Snuffhouse.
@petersuki - Yes, I like it more and more as time goes by. Have you tried it? If not you should. I am in that phase where I am exploring a lot of snuffs that did not rock my boat at the time. I am also quite smitten with Gold Label for its simplicity and clean taste. Part of the journey. @Xander - Yea I get the lavender, maybe Cardamon, a little nutmeg, and whatever else is just blended together so well. My favorite cstokes4 picture was the photoshop of the semi trailer load being dumped full of GC. I loved that image, it had a kind of winning the lottery fantasy moment to it. Grand Cairo is a complex and not so subtle snuff, it has a lot going on there that pleases. We just assumed that cstokes4 was demented, or maybe it was just me. But his devotion to the GC was not healthy, that much I remember! I think?
Whalen. I have tried it, and I saw that it was very good. I am in the odd position of liking SPs and variations around that style, but being easily overwhelmed by citrus effects. (The most ‘citrussy’ I’ve tasted is Tranters SP, or it’s a big contender for that.) Also as a pipe smoker my senses are a bit dulled in the nose department, certainly, not as good as some peoples’ (Xander’s enviable capacity to deconstruct them). I’m working in the Sam Gawith mine today (KB, McCombie, High Mill). Snuff heaven, treasured moments, - not a strident citrus note in the chord, mainly just plain tobacco - but not as I knew it before.
It is dang good, Whalen!!( and it is fun to gives Stokes a little grief…I believe he has 2 Kg. of the stuff at this very moment.)
You see this avatar? Its all thats left of me. You have been warned.
@Bart - Two kilograms seems a little light to me, are you sure? I would have expected more! Sad that! Never the less I am continuing to bury mine after each and every decanting, just to be sure! @snuffster - “But we are just talking about Shaft”. he’s a bad MF!
