Ive been getting back in to snuffing since my new years resolution was to quit snussing/chewing. After a party recently, ive been haunted by an unusual notion. The idea came tO me while enjoying one of my other favorite plants as im sure others have also wondered and i figured id ask the boys on snuffhouse about it. If you havent guessed it yet, let me come right out and ask: has anybody tried making a snuff out of weed? I dont see why you couldnt, but im curious as to the effects. Please share your info/thoughts/opinions on the subject. Happy new years, guys!

Furthermore the trichomes (the psychoactive sticky stuff on the surface of the buds etc) are too big to be absorbed through the nasal passage (when ground) If it were possible, it would have been done already. Having said that look up Sativex. It’s a pharma med made purely from cannabis and produced as an oral spray. The microscopic trichomes have been isolated so there is no plant material. Very hard to come by though and only on prescription.

@jbruckus, yes I’ve tried and…you can just as well sniff some old leather boots, same results! No, it does not work because there is no heat to set free the …whatever it is.

but you can vaporize it… or make butter?! out of it, as far as safer alternatives. Yeah, it’s a crazy question, but somebody had to ask.

I wonder if baking before grinding would work? Or just destroy the active ingredient? Try to determine the temp just before vaporizing occurs and stop there. Might be an interesting experiment. Potentially terribly wasteful though.

The Merck Index lists the boiling point of delta 1 Tetrahydrocannabinol as 200° C (392° F). 365° F appears optimal for vaporizing.

If someone hasn’t already patented the idea of some Cannabis scented / flavored Snuff… I might just have to see if I can! Cause we all love the smell, yes? Would be a WONDERFUL snuff… Something to enjoy every day, at any time…

@Brandasaur : Not all of it smells like skunks @hooked : Well, I thought that THC didn’t absorb through the muscus membrane in your nose? Still, if it were possible, would also make a cool snuff lol. But if not, still would be a nice smell… Maybe not the skunk smell though, for Brandasaur lol

@brandasaur…wow really? Hate it? My god I would make sure a cannabis scented (based ) snuff stayed in my nose 24-7!! If I could make a snuff that both smelled like and had some other qualities unique to the sativa/indica plant I would have combined two of the great indulgences I have ever discovered. It’s almost as enticing to me as having the Philosophers Stone and turning lead into gold!

A cannabis flavoured snuff would be the bees knees! It would also make for a great new Toque flavour.

It would also extend your stay at the jail while they prove your snuff ain’t pot.

FYI. I noticed this awhile back and didn’t say anything because I thought someone else would notice. I know I wouldn’t want to trade with someone that won’t hold up their end of the deal. Because I have been waiting since October 13th for a tin of Sun-Kohinoor snuff with 17g remaining to arrive and needless to say I haven’t received anything as of yet. I concur with MikeMoose, I too enjoy the fact that when cannabis is mentioned here it doesn’t result in a deluge of “Just Say No” propaganda or even thinly disguised stereotyping. Huzzah! That being said, since snuff made with/ scented with real cannabis sativa/indica would be illegal to make and if successful allow others to sample, I am curious what could be used to create a similar note/flavor in snuff. Would there perhaps be some oils (legal ones) when combined could produce a scent similar to the sweet Jane? I’m not sure what scent oils would even be a good starting point and I would be inclined to attempt to make a snuff with that scent

Hemp, once processed into either hemp oil or fiber (thus no longer psychoactive in any realistic sense) is legal and I have had some hemp oil around at times although I don’t have any on hand now. I don’t recall the hemp oil having very much scent to it. Perhaps there was some but if memory serves me it was fairly faint. Snuffgrinder, I’d like to get my hands on some of that Zulu snuff, maybe a little Kratom, a bottle of Absinthe and toss in a David Lynch film. That would be an interesting evening!

Now that I can really comment this, I say that I am a huge fan of marijuana. I am legally able to possess, smoke, and grow it. For smoking, use as a fiber, and extraction of it’s oils I believe it’s an excellent resource. As for snuff, however, I think that it can only be used, successfully, as an added scent. It would be a waste to try to get high by using it as snuff. It would smell wonderful though. -Kidnapper

Suppose someone, hypothetically, had ground up the leaf and not the bud from a particularly virile plant growing in a licensed friends yard and mixed it with some Rooster and laid it by for a week, that person may have really enjoyed the scent (best ever maybe).

It is an excellent resource. We should be using it in many more ways than just medically. And I agree, would make a lovely snuff scent

Now that I think about it, the smell of marijuana is, to me, only beaten by the smell of burning marijuana. If a toasted, marijuana snuff was made, could you market it as “smoking joint” snuff? Haha -Kidnapper

I’ve had it in brownies and in butter. Yeah its different, it takes longer to come on and it lasts longer. Its almost like the difference between smoking tobacco and using a dip or snuffing. I find snuffing and snussing/chewing to have similar style nicotine hits, where as smoking its like instant. One of these days I will surely experiement with a cannabis snuff but I’m loving all the ideas you guys have. This turned out to be a really interesting thread. Thanks everyone!

I have sniffed espresso grounds, ground green tea, and ground yerba mate, yet never felt the effects of caffeine except when drinking infusions.

Of course, some smell and taste better than others! I prefer the fruity strains. Where I’m from, hashish is harder to come by. I’ve never known anyone to “fuck up their lives” by smoking weed, but I see it with heavier substances for sure. The police state in NY is a shame, I live in the rural north of the state and every summer - like clockwork - the state troopers are flying black helicopters allover the place, lookin’ to bust some poor dude for growing some plants. A plant that is much older than the law that forbids it, and much older than the country whom invented the law. Its so entirely irrational. For some reason they cannot secure the borders but they have ample money to fly helicopters around all day. I hope I live to see the day they legalize it and end all the nonsense.

It can be eaten, thats without any doubt at all and many users prefer that method, but could you snuff enough? I don’t think so myself and if you check out any of the devoted sites there’s no mention of it. I kind of think if it was viable to ingest THC via nasal mucosa then it would be generally known. Of course flavouring is another matter…

I have several snuffs that are flavored with cannabis. I would recommend to anyone who feels an affinity towards this herb that uses snuff to try it in snuff. I would be happy to to answer any questions privately.
