I stumbled onto this odd looking pipe the final minutes of an auction…

Am hoping someone may be able to help me identify it’s origin, and anything else about it…

Even though I do not smoke a pipe, I just like collecting old antique tobacco/snuff related items…  !

it’s missing the stem. I have had several pipes like that. Some smoke great some like the opposite of grea.

Looks like a Bavarian one, I had something similar years ago.

A steam engine in the making?!!! LOL

Never seen anything like this before but yes, I would also have bought it.

When in doubt, make up a name!

How about: "a two bowled, vertical stemed, Bavarian birch pipe?

Old World Tyrolian wins the prize… What I can’t figure out is why yours doesn’t have any vent holes in the lid!

I’ve had two the first one was an amazing smoker. Really great and had a huge bowl it smoked cool for hours. My second one I still have cause I like the way it looks but it’s a terrible pipe. The first one was my hiking pipe, I thought my second one would be too. It is not even that good.

Thanks guys, and thanks for that link Bob…

That pipe looks like it would smoke like a champ if you get it back in action, it has a calabash design, Dunhill is producing something very similar today.
