Was researching and found a few cool documents which discuss the history of the old Garrett snuff mill, Lorillard’s and Helme.

What’s interesting to me is this article mentions how Rappee, Irish and Maccoboy were soley made for oral use/dipping:

" Rappee, Irish, and Maccoboy are three such, types. These

snuffs appeared solely for dipping in the early 19th century. The

original finely-milled snuff was dry, called Scotch snuff-- an

unflavored, unscented, powdered tobacco. "
