Old Mill Conundrum I’d like to share my impressions on a wonderfully intriguing snuff… Old Mill Conundrum. The texture, grind, and moisture content are reminiscent of many of the snuffs in Samuel Gawith’s lineup… soft and fluffy. The base is a beautiful Red Virginia and consistent throughout. Taking a whiff of its aroma, one immediately picks up a well blended melding of fruit. This is not a syrupy fruit cup smell, oh no… it is like being in the day’s fresh picked fruit section of the local farmers market. On this first whiff alone, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact fruits used as everything works and blends so well together. Time to take a pinch. Sniff… Wow! This is a conundrum indeed. What fruit is in this? A few pinches in my pallet picked up a non-bitter exotic citrus and mild tea note, cherries, and a refreshing mint sensation without the slightest hint of an overbearing mint flavor. Even after picking these notes out, you will find yourself wanting to pinch more and more to attempt in identifying the other layers of flavors. I know what they are, but won’t spoil the surprise and experience for you. There is no adverse drip, the snuff is incredibly easy to take and frankly addictive. While sweet, it is not sugary. Out in the open, the notes alternate and blossom in your nose. It lingers a perfect amount without becoming annoying. Fruit snuffs are not high on my list of favorites. HOWEVER, this has currently become the perfect daily compliment to my snuff rotation and one I do not want to be without. Excellent after a round of toasts or scotches, it will keep you coming back for more. I hope others have an opportunity to try this intriguing snuff that truly lives up to its name. @chefdaniel Well done sir!
