It was suggested that Bernards be amongst one of my first orders of snuff, due to not having anything other than Brutons Scotch availiable at a shop in my area. I was hoping for a little input as to whether this sounded like a good place to start for a beginners snuff order. I chose these due to the reviews sounding pleasant.
Klostermischung
Jubilaums
Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert
my preference would be to substitute Regensburger Pris for Klostermischung, and add Aecht Altbayrischer
Sternecker Echt Fresco 100g as good as any bernard. buy a Stainless Steel Snuff Spoon and Mr.Snuff Black Plastic Snuff Box .Those small tap boxes are not a convenience when it comes to schmalzlers. For a beginner schmalzler are easy to use and different scents will be appreciated later on after technique is developed. Also invest in air tight jars to store snuff; when it drys out it can be hydrated but loses scent. When ever possible but the largest you can afford 25 grams and up ,those savings add up. Just a suggestion.
Alt Offenbacher Köstlich is one of my favorites of the non-schmalzlers. The new Regsenberber Prise looks very promising, but I can’t recommend it since I’ve not had it yet. I’ve not had the Jubilaums but it might have menthol, alhtough I hear its good, and very few Bernards overdo menthol. Klostermishung is very grainy and a bit on the harsher side. Brasil Doppelfermentiert is their flagship product, highy recommended.
I really appreciate the input fellas, will alter my list accordingly. I certainly don’t want to risk getting a menthol or anything considered “harsh” for my first order.
Also, I already placed an order with Toque, haven’t gotten any kind of shipment confirmation yet, as I’m not real sure what to expect. I ordered the 10 for the price of 9 from them. As it is now, I’m a 25 yr old beginner snuffer using the “stuffing” method with Brutons Scotch. Not too bad, but any other way of taking it, makes it make a bee-line for my lungs and the back of my throat. Otherwise, I thoroughly love the scent, and find it somewhat odd that it kind of enhances the flavor of Jameson Irish Whiskey.
