I like “the complexity of a moment”. Sure you know those knots of different influences―some specific music, smell, snuff and time… bringing strong reminiscences later. What would you recommend as a typical autumn snuff? What works for you? Do you have some ideal “knot” for autumn? (For example campfire/Navy Plain/work in the garden; tuning of your car/Bernard Kostlich/Iron Maiden; Amostrinha/Vivaldi/tea and book?) I know it could be too difficult to put it down and that such a specific list does not cover all possibilities… but be brave, try it, please!

making apple butter, mowing leaves for the garden, walking the no-longer crowded beach, wool socks, tea, firing up the wood stove, a camping trip, target practice, and Abraxas snuffs

S

Bracing cool mornings, changing colors on the trees, bringing in the harvest, University of Montana Grizzly Football, anticipating holiday family get togethers, enjoying a good cigar with friends by the fire pit, the beginning of stew and baking season, heavy beer and more schmalzers.

might be different but I love using heavily floral snuffs when I am on the long winter walks. Invokes a strange mood for sure.

I don’t know about a strange mood, all I can say is I can’t imagine walking in the Canadian winters with a nose full of menthol and/or eucalyptus…it’s already freezing enough, no need for any extra “freshness”. That’s only a plan for “icicle nose” hahaha I, too will be using floral and fruity, as well as strong white, black snuffs and shmalzlers, non mentholated of course.

As it gets colder here in the UK now autumn is on it’s way my nose keeps saying “let’s have some De Kralingse Pompadour and warm up…”
