I’m quite curious who has the largest collection with different snuff tins. Wouldn’t it be fun to make a ranking for that like the Poles have, to always know who is the record holder? http://top25snuff.com/pl/forum/14-rozmowy-o-tabace/213-ranking-atp.html

T

I’d come at around No.15 on that poll.

L

If only I know how many different snuffs I had now

F

Don’t you collect tins, leman? Your had so many snuffs that you could go for the Guinness record lol.

X

Do they have to be snuffs in service or do ones I’ve emptied count.

J

I would estimate a couple hundred after five years on the internet. I have really slowed down trying new stuffs now that I can make decent batches for myself.

F

Xander, also the emptied ones count. By “different snuff tins” I also mean for example a Gawith Apricot with a German warning and a GA with an English warning.

L

@Filek - Last time I counted, I was at 390 different snuffs.  I haven’t bought any more in the last couple years, and I’ve finished several tins since then, so I’m probably around 350.

X

Wow, different language warnings count too? I think I may have you beat. I’ll have to count.

N

My assortment is shrinking. For years I used only a few snuffs, then when I joined Snuffhouse I started buying different kinds that people described. Now I am going back to using just a few kinds, but different ones than previously. I probably have only sixty now, but use the same five all the time.

D

Since last October I’ve got a measly collection of 30.

F

Xander, not only the warnings. Also different sizes of the tins, colors of labels, etc. Everything that makes the tin unique. It a good way to know what the producer has changes with their tins and labels within a few years.

X

@Filek You only have 423, even counting different sizes? I think I might have well more than 500 if I can count sizes. However, I have not saved most of mine, usually if I can peel the sticker off that’s enough for me. I put the sticker in a scrapbook. Also If I get a Toque Cherry in three dfferent sizes, (bullet, 10g, 25g) I’ll keep the 10g sticker only. Still, I will have to do a count. Cstokes posted some mind-boggling photos of his collection a year or so ago!

F

I might have tried around +500 snuffs (mostly thanks to the snuff meeting and recieving samples from top25snuff members), but when it comes to collecting tins the number is 423 - but it still gives me the Polish record. My name and my collection is going to be in the next edition of the Polish book of records. I needed to make it official, so I could place it in my book project. Anyways it’s quite fun to be the record holder of Poland, since the best part of our snufftaking community is, off course, collecting tins. Xander or cstokes, you might go for the record of the USA - if there is something else besides the Guinness record.

No, surely I can’t have it. I’m a mere pup. What about they guys that own snuff webshops? Must be thousands of size/language combinations.

Took a picture of the cabinet last night.  I keep all of my snuff in a wood cabinet inside of my office closet.  The cabinet is about ~3.5 feet tall, inside all of my snuffs are contained in baskets; three to a shelf.  The bottom shelf is all US snuffs, one basket is double stacked.  On top of the cabinet are my bulks and other misc. snuff items.

B

Don’t foget the silos in the backyard, Stokes.

C

I’ve moved them underground.  I found @Whalen out there one day trying to siphon off some Grand Cairo.

W

Just that bit that was keeping the lid from closing all the way! BTW, where is that Grand Cairo delivery picture? I loved that one.

And another.

(Stokes in the white) Rather shocking, is it not?

T

Is that all his High Dry Toast?

C

Grand Cairo actually.

very pretty

Apart from some very old Fribourg and Treyer and a boxed set of Smith’s from the early 80’s all I have is a monster jar of Fubar and about a kilo of Toque of various kinds all blended together. Pretty poor collection really.

A

@Filek - two of the snuffs on your list are wrong. The two tins that are listed as by ‘dodo designs’ never held snuff - they were just retro, empty tins sold in the 80’s in gift shops, dodo designs was not a snuff manufacturer. You can Google it, ask around, whatever - but you will find there was never a dodo snuff:) The two I have were bought for me by a girlfriend in the 80’s from a candle and greetings card shop.

Nice collection SnuffSniffer But the jars won’t count in the thing I’m thinking about, so you’ll have around 50 tins, since only those are the original packagings. Here’s my collection of tins: http://www.polskierekordy.pl/rekord/rekordowa-kolekcja-opakowan-po-tabace

@Snuffster, I remember you wrote that to me about 2-3 years ago(?). I thought I deleted it then. If not…I’ll have to check and do it when I’ll have the occasion Good that you’ve noticed that. Thank you

A

@Filek - This is the company: www.dododesigns.com

F

Ah right, it’s still on the English version. Good eye.

Edit: And delated.

X

@Filek what’s Azurska in the last photo?

F

Mazurska, which means Masurian, was a snuff made in the tobacco factory in Poznań. Mine is from around the '70.

Yeah I figured that, I just want to put the pics up, I’m not trying to compete.

F

I just wanted to put things straight, since I wrote earlier that different labels also count. And since you also have (and a lot of people here) original labels on the jars, I wanted to clear that out. But it quite fascinating to see the differences bettwen ones way of the collection thinking. The Poles thinks only about the tins, the English speaking about the kilograms they have and the German speaking, as I think about it, have not individual collections of tins, but mass collections of the full club - and it of course fascinating to see the pictures of different collections. But I also hope to know who might have the largest collection in the way the Poles think…or maybe it only the Polish way of collecting. I do hope the answer is no, since it would be boring to know we’re alone in such a passion
