Do all coarse snuffs make your nose run like hell? Or is it more probable?

Not me at all. I run with menthol and or fine snuff

I predominantly use coarse snuff, and don’t have too much problems once they have aired a little. A new snuff fresh from the tin will get my juices flowing a little more than one that has calmed down a bit. Berwick Brown for example can get my nose running when it’s fresh and rather floral, but after a while I find it becomes somewhat nuttier and sits in my nose a lot better. There’s a fine balance though between this and letting it dry out too much’ so I tend to rehydrate my snuffboxes a smidgeon by passing the inside of the lid over the steam from the kettle when making a hot drink.

The coarse snuffs make my nose run more than the finer ones but I’m sure it affects others differently.

I find that humidity has a factor when using the course snuff. Summer time is when I use it the most, but use in the other seasons also with box of Kleenex.

Yes they do to the point that cannot use them in public. I have a really hard time wrapping my head around the 19th century with all their coarse dark snuffs. It’s hard to imagine wealthy people (or ANY people for that matter) expelling rivers of black snot into handkerchiefs every 15-90 minutes. I’m really envious of people who have little-to-no mucous from snuff, even the driest snuffs I have to blow my nose a couple minutes after a pinch.

I seem to get more of a Nic release when my nose runs therefore I like it. I know I am weird …sorry.

@horus92 …I have the same problem imagining people in earlier times, when people were more mannerly( or so I think), blowing out huge streams of snot-snuff into white hankies. Certain snuffs don’t make my nose run very much, but all do to some degree. And @Banjo777, yeah, you are weird, but so are the rest of us.

@basement_shaman maybe it’s because I’m too young, but I just don’t “get” zappa. When I listen to older music it tends to be more… Prince, that was a creative dude. I like zeppelin and talking heads, so I like older music as well as my indie rock which is my love. …maybe you had to be there for zappa

@basement_shaman You might like Peaches en Regalia coming out late summer. Peaches grilled over pecan, soaked in white corn whisky with cinnamon, cloves, allspice and other goodies. Some nice Virginia and a bit of dark fired Kentucky.

@hgrissom Zappa for me, was theather of the mind, You nailed it old, I was listening to Black Sabbath when they came out. For a long time they did make my nose run, some Abraxas, and SWS, sometimes schmalzlers will still do it, but I only use them late at night, and really because I use HUGE piles of it. But, I use De Kralingse all day every day and it stays put, its pretty coarse tobacco and excellent. So, just keep on snuffing it, I believe your nose will eventually accept it better as your use increases. Also a small spoonful of some extra dry snuff when your nose gets runny can help stop it… Or make it tremendously worse.
