Cleaning House When Switching Snuffs

While sampling my new order slowly over several hours, a question came to mind. How do others clean out their nostrils when switching between different snuffs? Personally I blow out what I can then wipe out the rest with a tissue when I don’t want different snuff’s scents blend in my nose. Please share your method, or interesting/creative comments.

A good menthol snuff can clear out my nostrils, but there’s still some blending of flavours. That’s kinda tough to escape, I think. Just waiting is probably the best if you want to taste each individually, but even if you don’t, you should still be able to somewhat separate flavours.

I have been waiting about a hour between snuffs while testing my new snuffs, but some snuffs do linger quite a while (especially F&T).

If you really really need to clean out (like what happens to me after F&T’s Seville and Morlaix) nothing beats a quick jala neti - even a 10cl rinse per nostril is plenty enough to remove pretty much any trace of the former occupants.

I am considering getting a neti pot. I find I can get cleared out pretty good with a few good blows in a warm shower.

Just fill your handpalms with warm water ( like you are going to wash your face ) sniff in water, blow out. Rinse & repeat  Saves you buying the Neti Pot. Why buy something for something so simple as blowing your nose…

I don’t. Just snuff away. You’ll only have one or two pinches at the most that are effected by the previous snuff so its a lot of messing around to remedy something thats not a problem.

I use, what I guess could be called the Dixieland Band approach. Blow and pick.

I’m going to assume you’re doing this in the comfort of your own home either alone or in the company of people who already know about your eccentricities. What I do in this situation is stand over the sink and wet my finger with running water as I have a good pick, rinse it off and repeat as necessary. It’s the next best thing to having a liberating, unadulterated noseblowing session in the shower for me

I use an American Scotch as an intermezzo between some snuffs, almost always after a mentholated. I normally plan around heavier scents though, using them when I know I’ll be taking a longer break or late evening or last at bed time.

How about a YouTube video of us snuffers picking out our noses between snuffs. I am sure that would attract a lot of new users. I am just glad that now I have a excuse when I get caught digging around up there. All joking aside, I normally just blow then wipe out my nostrils with a klenex. In a hot shower I give a couple blows to clear out a little better. In between those two methods I am usually go to go. @ Micheltn I did try cupping my hands, filling them up with water and dipping my nose in for a rinse. That seemed to work well for getting some of those scents from scented snuffs that linger out of my nose.

Moistened q-tip works for me. You might have to hold it under running water while you wipe out four of five times. Neto pot is an end-of-day routine. I consider it pretty essential, even if not using snuff. It just gets the upper nasal passage clean and feeling awesome. For the lower area and the tip, it does not penetrate well, so the q-tip comes into play. Be gentle if you use one though.

I use a damp tissue wrapped around my pinky to pick. I use a damp tissue because its easier on the nose.

Add some ENO’s Fruit Salts to a bit of snuff. It should clear your nose nicely, I think. If it’s good, let me know please.

I use saline nasal spray every now and then. A couple good squirts and a good blow and clean as a whistle. It is fairly cheap to buy in the drugstore too.

I seem to be doing what most of you are. Other than the saline, I use one of those baby snot sucker things you can find at the drugstore for $1.50. I use hot water from the shower. If I use snuff after the shower and before bed, I stick to the white’s, just in case my allergies kick up during the night I don’t want to leak Rooster all over the pillow. In department stores they use coffee beans to clear out the sinus before smelling different perfumes, I havn’t tried it, but I would imagine after a good rinse, then a wiff of beans you might be good to go. I regularly carry between 7-9 different kinds of snuff with me daily, after a while they start seeming the same until a good rinse.
