>>> Random topics all day/night. Just drop in and join the talk. <<< Well, it is a rainy day, got some scotches with me. Sitting in front of my laptop and wait for players to join my TBFW game while i write this thread. I saw it in the “Loung” (like this “Pub”; means: off-topic (sub)forum) of a forum i use. A single thread for chit-chat, just going and going. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast. Since we are more or less shattered around the globe and living in different time-zones, we may can expect new posts around the clock sometimes. I am curious. Here we go !!! I am here and refresh every few minutes, so drop me something.

5

Sounds good to me. Another forum which commands most of my online time has a couple of similar threads with free flowing chatter about anything and everything (within forum terms of conduct of course). It’s been a great thread for just letting your hair down and getting to know the other forumites better. “Conversations” tend to last no more than 4 or 5 posts, and many posts are just random off the cuff comments or random thoughts, but it can be a very amusing and enlightening thread at times

P

@50ft_trad Hey there, that is absoluty what my aim was. From which part of the world do you come ?

5

I’ve lived within 30-40 minutes drive of WoS all my life, and until I first tried snuff in April (?) this year I never even knew they existed #-o I obviously knew there was plenty of history of steel, knife/tool making, and heavy industry around Sheffield, but the tobacco industry took the best part of 40 years to appear on my radar

P

WOW!! What a start for this thread!! I am glad that you found your way to snuff. England is a good place for lovers of traditional tobacco products (imho). I just did relocate to the northern part of Germany and was about to order some chew from Kendal.

5

Relocate from where? SG is probably my favourite mill at the moment, with WoS and GH coming in a joint second, so I can understand your yearning for the Kendal In fairness I am still finding my feet with many of the snuffs that all the mills have to offer WoS do however get bonus points for being local (to me), having a 300 year old mill (world’s oldest snuff mill) with still functioning waterwheel, and being on the Porter Brook a way downstream from Shepherd Wheel (cutlery workshop) which has been there since the 1500s and was a place I was taken several times as a child

P

I did live for around 12 years in Trier (oldest city in Germany) and was for 6 months in Berlin now but i did start to hate living there and so i did relocate to Ostfriesland (near the sea), where my fiance and her family lives. I like all the mills you named. SG is my favorite too (for a long time now, they have so many ones i like). For another english miller: what do you think of F&T ? Imho the HDT they offer is the best one on the whole market.

5

F&T for me is an occasional pinch of Bordeaux or Macouba. One of the reasons SG is a favourite is the coarser grinds. I’m not one for toasts :-S This is becoming the 50ft and Prismaster show we need to get some of the others joining in now Have we got any musicians here?

F

And right on cue, I show up i grew up in sheffield, which is home of sharrow. live in york now. musician too.

5

Ha Ha Ha! Perfect timing mate :-bd

P

@Firestarter0 Hey there !!! What kind of music you play ?

H

Hey, a “spam thread” for snuffhouse. Great idea! Every forum should have one of these.

5

Spam thread? You selling Viagra? I’m not snuffing that again! Being British my upper lip is stiff enough as it is

P

Spam thread? You selling Viagra? I’m not snuffing that again! Being British my upper lip is stiff enough as it is

I dont need it either besides i hear it is not too good for your health. Even worse, copies made in China. Not funny at all.

P

Hey, a “spam thread” for snuffhouse. Great idea! Every forum should have one of these.

It is not a “spam thread”, it is a “hang out - thread”.

B

Spam , Now I am hungry

5

Just tucking into fishcake, chips and a spring roll here =P~ =P~ =P~

B

Think I will make some taco’s

P

Ah… i have to wait 2 hrs more until proper evening meal.

B

12.22 here and the meat is just about done, just have to dice the onions and heat up the shells

P

18:29: Meal already cooked yesterday for birthday party. Leftovers still more then fine and looking forward to it. Cannot describe it properly in englisch since i lack the kitchen vocabulary.

C

@Prismaster This thread is an excellent idea. I decided I needed a break from work so checked in here and found this thread. I have unfortunately spent most of the day doing very detailed accounting / legal stuff with more to do later so I needed a break and am now deciding what snuff to pinch. Since we are sharing basic info I am based just outside London in the UK so that is my timezone although I can frequently be found lurking here in the middle of the night. Funnily enough my girlfriend will be out in Berlin next January and suggested that I should come and join her for a long weekend. She knows her way round Berlin but any suggestions from a one time local as to sights, bars, restaurants and tobacco vendors would be handy.

F

i just got back from a successful job interview, just doing stock, but its my first ‘proper’ fixed job. hopefully it will smooth out my income (actually give me some haha). ill see how it affects my timings, but im usually found on here late night too. not sure what my meal will be, could be anything, depends what the bloody people im living with have thrown out the fridge thats mine. hopefully ill have pizza or something.

5

Congratulations on the new job mate <:-P :-bd

C

@Firestarter0 My congratulations as well and good luck with that. Having had a quick tidy of my desk I finally found my Whisky & Honey and have just had a few good pinches of that while I wind down for a little while. I really did not like that snuff when I first got it but it has grown and grown on me. I generally use coarser snuffs but happily I have no problem with the Whisky & Honey or with Field of Junipers. Snuff and coffee to drink - splendid. Hopefully this time tomorrow it will be snuff and beer!!!

F

Cheers- i can see this thread will bring me to the forum more, im starting to think a members only chat might be a good thing. like an online chat room with a password that can be found in a private members only thread here. as for the job, i celebrated with a ‘penicillin’ cocktail (auchentoshan, laphoaig, lemon and cinnamon) and a double Oban scoth in my favourite York bar. im enjoying a cup of Chai tea now ( im loading up on cinnamon and whiskey for my cold)

P

@Firestarter0 Yeah, congratulations for that. I am actually on a job hunt too, since i relocated here a few days ago (see earlier posts). I wish you a successful time with it ! @chris Thanks for support of the idea. About going to Berlin, you should do so since for a vacation trip it is awesome. I was troubled by living there for a long period of time but to go their as a tourist can be really good. The whole city is packed with old stuff and stunning buildings of age. Besides this, it is multiculture overkill, as you will see. Many good tobacco stores can be found with nice ambient, sorry i cannot name any. Where you should go depends on the person you are, for some wild times go down to Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain. Try for example this: you the ring train (Ringbahn S41 or S42) and go to Ostkreuz. Just get out there. You will find a park with plays and stuff, dozens of dozens of snack shops of any kind. Bars, clubs, restaurants of all kinds and mostly A LOT of mostly friendly and harmless people. You can just have a good time there with your girl and meet crazy guys n gals. I bet on it.

Yeah, that effect is what i meant and why i got the idea of such a chat again. Anyway, it seems this thread is a good alternative for the time being.

B

@Firestarter0 best of luck with your new job .I hope you love your work. Nothing worse than going to a job you hate. I know your young so I will offer a suggestion. Put some Silver & Gold away for your old age.You know how tough it is to live on nothing .

5

Personally I see threads like this as a much better alternative. Easier to catch up on if you’ve been absent a while

C

@Prismaster Thanks for the info re Berlin. The tobacco stores sound good although my girlfriend does not share that interest. We could probably both do with a wild night out but we have both cut right back on our drinking so I don’t know how wild that will be. But the plays and restaurants sound good.

P

Personally I see threads like this as a much better alternative. Easier to catch up on if you’ve been absent a while

That for sure is a valid point. @chris Then just go for the nice food. There many gems to explore but unfortuantly a lot of potential shitholes as well (avoid NeuKölln, Sonnenallee, Wedding or Weißensee since this places totally suck)

F

@basement_shaman i doubt ill particularly love it, its working on stock for a clothes shop, but its something for now since im desperate and ill probably get a discount- stock up on clothes haha, im running out. i think i want to put tobacco away before silver and gold, i find the sweetness of enjoying tobacco softens the blows of living on whatever food i can find cheap or be given. just a shame i cant preserve snus. extra thought- im sure tobacco may hold its value better than gold if society craps out as we know it, and it will do me good if we in the UK get prohibition- it certainly looks that way up to now. they are currently to ban 10 packs of cigarettes, pouches below 20g weight and menthol cigarettes, and i believe there are talks of flavoured tobacco, which i would assume covers pipe and snuff.

It is getting worse for tobacco lovers in Europe. Well, at some point in time, we have to grow our own again i assume.

H

lol, sorry for the confusion, but other places I go call these random chatter threads “spam threads”. Not quite the same as spam emails trying to get you laid.

N

I never understood why we associate junk email with canned meat.

P

I never understood why we associate junk email with canned meat.

Me neither. Please someone enlight us on that topic.

C

Probably because it’s junk and contains nothing of value?

I heard it was reference to the Monty Python sketch …

I like this thread. I have trouble with chats, too jumbled and I am slow getting my thoughts lined up and by the time I do the conversation had evolved in a different direction; this format is more my speed. Today was filled with making bracelets for the shop which opens next week for the holiday season. Apart from that I turned the compost heap to get a little exercise and just got back from the local Thai restaurant where I had duck choo chee.

I like it at this speed too @Mouse. The duck dish sounds lovely. Ah, the compost heap. My garden is in dire need of attention, but I’m undecided what to do. I’m all container gardening and cant decide whether or not to reuse the compost from some of the crops/plants, or scrap it off and start again. Disposing of it ain’t easy in a small yard like mine and the binmen will only take so much weight, but weeds have had a crack at some of the pots where the crops have finished due to me working long hours at work. Besides that, I think the pot I grew the sweetcorn in is probably one big solid mass of roots. It was my first year growing anything, so I’m a little clueless @Firestarter0 you forgot the … “lobster thermidor aux crevettes, with a mornay sauce garnished with truffle paté, brandy and a fried egg on top and spam”

M

the duck was really good, 1" thick sliced crispy skinned duck with bamboo shoots, snow peas, green beans and peppers in a coconut milk/red curry sauce with brown rice on the side, jasmine green tea in the mug.

5

Sounds fantastic! :-bd

really, sounds very delicious. i am a huge fan of thai, chinese and to some degree japanese kitchen. while i did live in Berlin i had a huge selection of fine restaurants and streetshops at hand. wonderful meals most of the time. i cannot cook something like that myself, for example: i did NEVER succed in cooking my own curry. so i gave up on that and stick to professionals who make it for me. nice to see some people like the thread. i see it was not that bad of an idea. keep coming.

Hmmm … all my small glass clip top jars are in use, but I just got a new order in of 7 M&W Snuffs. Do I open them and risk them drying out before I get back to them, or leave them sealed until a glass jar comes free …? I want to try 'em, but not dry 'em. I have already cracked open Convent Sandalwood (by GH), Emerald Mocha and Jocks Choice (by WoS) and they were bloody lovely, but a light enough flour that they’ll dry out quickly. Can I resist cracking open the Rumba, Mature Crumbled, Citrus Delight & Mullins Particular …?

P

@50ft_trad Hard decision. I guess i would try to wait until the other ones go down in content. I hate it when snuffs dry out.

M

I guess I am in the lucky minority–I don’t mind dried out snuff. Comes from cutting my teeth on Levi Garrett I suppose.

P

you did stop with the Levi Garrett @Mouse ? i really like the chew and plug. never ever had their scotch. would love to obtain a bottle.

H

I agree with Mouse. I started snuffing Square and Superior. Dry snuff is not an issue…though it also means for me that snuffs people say are “medium” moisture are a tad too moist. For instance, I am using some Fugazi Menthol right now and just leaving the tin on the table with the lid off in hopes of some evaporation happening.

F

i dont mind dry anymore, i find moist coarse make my nose run far too quickly. however if its a fine grind, i prefer more moisture.

F

could anybody suggest a decent snuff i could use as my tabletop snuff, im after something moist, good to pinch, good-high nicotine, with a scent that might be pleasing to others. my preferences lean towards indians, plains and light-medium menthols. i dont want this one to be german. I am thinking along the lines of abraxas, but the abraxas premiums give me a terrible drip. maybe ill try the abraxas coarse…

Guess you got me wrong on that. I really, really like scotches (nasal and oral) and of course they are bone-dry (expections: Checkerberry and Railroad Mills Maccoboy) - i just hate if “medium” or else moist snuffs dry out. If love SA snuffs like Babathon Blue etc but when i hear of people who “dry them out” before use… O M G !!! I cannot understand…

5

Have you tried Toque’s Berwick Brown yet? If I had to limit myself to one snuff, that would definitely be a contender. Other than that I’d suggest exploring the Kendal Browns or Viking Blonde maybe However, my table top snuff is my everchanging Granny’s Stew … the dregs box

F

hmm, im tempted to try a brown, viking blonde is a contender for mmy shopping basket. how is it? im tempted to get some toque rustica coarse to add to my tops and dregs mix- its only faults are poor jar smell and the nic is nothing impressive, probably due to the fact ive dumped a few snuffs in there i liked the smell of but werent strong enough nic for me. other than that i have no idea whats in there. might have to name it my grannys stew instead, good name!

P

i did like Viking Brown and Viking Dark. the only two i had so far from this series. Viking Brown did remind me of “London Brown” or “Scotch Black” of SG. guess the reason is, that it is told, SG is the maker of Viking. in case that this info is correct, i dont wonder about the outcome of these snuffs. anyway, i did like em. on a sidenote: i am all in for these dark and heavy snuffs

5

Viking Blonde is a nice plain snuff, but if you find it a bit too plain is also a good base for a mix. I am a big fan of the Dark too, but thought the Blonde might be better for sharing with others

P

@50ft_trad Others ? I got nobody to share my snuff with. Most people think it is some strange curiosity i do by sniffing tobacco in my nose.

N

^most people think I’m crazy to put tobacco in my nose, what’s worse is that most people are ABSOLUTELY convinced that its more dangerous than smoking even though they don’t know a thing about snuff or have even one shred of evidence to support their delusions.

F

i like dark, but the blonde does sound appealing. i could perhaps just add a little of something scented. im thinking of using molens pompadour for the tabletop over the winter. need to get a little box to try.

5

@Prismaster That’s what @Firestarter0 asked :-?? I have a couple of friends I see occasionally (2 or 3 times a year) that will partake of snuff with me, but probably wouldn’t try it otherwise. As for people thinking I’m strange or eccentric, they do that regardless of me sticking ground tobacco up my hooter @n9inchnails I have a few people who think I’m mad for doing it, but most of them realise I wouldn’t have taken it up at this part of my life if was all that bad - even though they do find it highly bizarre. Part of that might be due to there historically being a lot of mining in the area, so a lot of people of my generation would know what nasal snuff is, even if they’ve never seen it or used it. Not so sure about the younger guys

B

@50ft_trad I’m sure most SH Members think I am off the wall. But that is none of my business what others think of me. I will over indulge with what ever I find pleasure in.

5

@basement_shamen I thought you were one of the more sane ones, so you can tell how off the wall I am 8-}

A

I used to think that, until I did some research, but boy did it smell better than cigs. Glad I found the truth.

H

Yes, yes you are. Which is why I always love reading your posts. That and I too am off the wall.

B

I suppose this snuff magnet; attracts like minded souls

5

Yeah, wierdos =)) Seriously though, I think you do have to be of a slightly different personality to try snuff in today’s world, and even then how many who try it would join a worldwide community of enthusiasts

B

I been a snuff enthusiastic for several decades ,I don’t feel so unique when I am home at Snuffhouse.org. Just one of the fellowship

F

I don’t feel so unique when I am home at Snuffhouse.org. Just one of the fellowship

its nice, i kinda stick out in regular day to day life on my own, so its nice to come here and feel ‘regular’ haha. it does seem to attract the strange folk like us. shame the world is such a big place, or id suggest meetings!

B

@Firestarter0 Toque Almond Toast Would be a good choice for your tabletop box. Pleasant scent and a favorite here mixed with Quit for that extra nic hit

X

What do you guys think about myself or one of the moderators deleting older posts in this thread to keep it fresh and newcomers don’t have to scroll or read through everything to join in? Posts over a day? 2 Days? 12 hours? Or not at all?

X

Just to keep it more like a regular chat program that is.

5

I’d leave them to be honest @Xander, assuming it doesn’t cause any site problems. If someone is away for a week or whatever they can catch up on things when they get back. Also good for referring back to what someone said if someone throws out some useful titbits or interesting references about anything

F

yeah, leave them, just like the ‘whats in your nose’ thread. users just click to view latest page, easy enough.

N

Ignorance abounds when it comes to snuff. Was at a party after a friends wedding a couple of weeks back and had some jackass lecture me about how bad it is all the while he was chain smoking cigarettes. Dude was drinking some junk labeled as whiskey but tasted like blackberry cough syrup. He was a pretty unreasonable sort and I wasn’t looking to make friends with him, so I told him passing a bottle that claims to be whiskey but taste like that can be pretty bad for your health also. We didn’t speak the rest of the night.

Ha ha !!! You did the right think. If i dont know about something, the last thing i would try is to lecture others about it. @Xander I would support the idea of leaving the posts, in case it doesnt creates any malfunction on the site (but i dont guess so). @50ft_trad @Firestarter0 @basement_shaman @Harlequin I am not that sane myself (other people say so all the time) and it seems that there is quite the chance that in case you love snuff, you may a bit of the “mainstream” road in general. Maybe this tought is just my conceit. Anyway, i am glad to found this place 3 years ago because it made it possible for the FIRST time in my whole life to speak with people about snuff and other exotic forms of tobacco (i am a big oral tobacco fan as well).

F

I just discovered- ‘Next’, the shop i now work in, sells handkerchiefs. i get 25% discount after 2 weeks of working there… WOOHOOOO

H

I feel the same way @Prismaster since I am just a tobacco fanatic in general. Prior to coming here I used to hang out in the /smoke/ section of 420chan, which was for all forms of tobacco, but mostly people just talked about cigs and cigars, occassionally dip or chew. Snuffhouse is much more diverse though and really satisfies my addiction to tobacco knowledge in it’s various forms and uses.

P

@Harlequin They got a /smoke/ on 420chan ? I never had the idea, that this kind of topic were in existance on a chan. Funny. I did hang out at SMPost before it died. The follow-ups like DipNation were full of retarded, rascist children, so i did drop that rather fast. SH got a big bunch of really friendly and interesting people with good manners, that is why i do stick here for more then 3 years now and i guess i will so in the future. Btw: Sorry for my sometimes murky english.

P

@Firestarter0 York, a place to be … 3 yrs at Uni then 3 yrs working for Rowntree McKintosh in the Chocolate production dept. was enough for me. The thing that really struck me about York when I returned after several months away was how very very clean & tidy it is & how affluent the people looked & also how many Police cars there were patrolling compared to many other places in the UK.

@lunecat Sounds like a nice place to me. Actually. @Firestarter0 Handkerchiefs are a must imho because paper toils etc go done like nothing. I use SG “Black Rappee” right now (while smoking my corn pipe and enjoy intoxication with “Franziskaner Weissbier Dunkel”) and i need to blow my nose so many times… paper towls are gone like nothing.

H

Well the thing is, we actually have a reputation for being uptight elitists here at snuffhouse. Which I think is hilarious, honestly. There are other sites and such full of people who obviously are not too bright complaining about SH. Some of them on Reddit I think lol

I see. I didnt know about that at all. Well, Reddit ? I am not very fond of that, it seems like a place for “not too bright” people, to borrow your words. We are “elitists” ? How come ? Because we can spell and use grammar right ? Or because we do snuff ? Funny.

N

Those rumors were probably spread by those who’ve been banned for being jackasses so they go on other forums to talk shit about us.

P

@n9inchnails I think you are quite right with that.

H

I am fairly certain of that one, lol. But with any specialty forum like this that is actually well run with a low tolerance for douchebaggery, you are going to have people mad about one thing or another.

F

I assume a cotton kerchief would be fine? 7 of appropriate colour, for £13 before discount, paid for with the £10 gift card and £10 note i was given simply for attempting the interview

5

Sounds like a good deal to me I finally managed to flatten the battery on my e-cig this evening 3 full cartomiser loads over 4 days without charging. I’m quite impressed with that actually

N

Do any of you ever wonder how many bugs/parts you might sniff in a year? You know it happens, bugs get into everything. You ever see how much junk is allowed in a candy bar? Might they be some exotic type bugs(if your snuff is from a different area than you), or is it all just roaches, the ever hardy and prolific kings of the bug world. Which all just leads me to think that the snuff makers, in the ever persistent quest to please the extreme snuffer, might gutload some bugs if with tobacco and grind them up and make snuff with 'em. I don’t know, just some snuffin thoughts.

H

Considering things like Red #5 are made from ground bugs and I have eaten candied crickets and live earthworms, that does not really bother me

J

Could be part of the flavour profile of our favorite snuffs. I say keep it in.

@lunecat Property in York ? That sounds awesome to me. I think it belongs to the most beautyful landscapes in England, right ? Of course, when someone is young he wants see the world. I mean, that was my case as well and i guess many people think so, but then again, i could be wrong with that.

P

Anybody up for some conversation ?

F

@lunecat Sounds like a nice place to me. Actually. …

@Prismaster Well it is, but at 25yrs old I wanted more than York could offer! I own a property in York that I let, I may still retire there.

@lunecat a property you let? could you PM me details? because i intend to stay here in york or atleast come back after a short stay in sheffield, and a nicer place to live than my current rented abode would be good at some point.

H

Anybody up for some conversation ?

Sorry, I was busy getting plastered all afternoon. Actually I am still working on it. I am definitely feeling no pain anyway, haha!

W

I would love to visit Europe. All of it. I need a grand tour.

B

being an old widower, on my own, would love to hear some one pot meals. i make chili, gumbo, brunswick stew,stew,chicken/noodles, c beef and cabbage and the like. need something new

M

We’re working on a week’s worth of lentils. Cheap, delicious, nutritious.

P

I would love to visit Europe. All of it. I need a grand tour.

It is worth the trip, that’s for sure. Same goes for me, since i want to visit North-America at least once in my lifetime.

P

I just did order a snuff which comes inside a dried banana peel. I am VERY curious how the snuff inside is (it says a very natural one). It is a rather cheap item and comes with a card (limited edition ??).

J

OK. Curious. Where / how do I find it.

Snuffstore, mrsnuff = same thing

F

wrong. owned by same guy, but prices and stock are different. and thats only for the UK snuffstore.

J

OK. Same address, VAT number.

P

My fault, sorry. It is of course snuffstore.de

F

sorry, i read it back now, it sounds snappier than i intended, i was just trying to get the point across before laptop battery went.

no, no. i did not mean that. dont worry @Firestarter0

P

P

Hell yeah! We just got our reservation for some “classic” hotel in Regensburg and so i will visit “Walhalla” there for the first time winter 2013. I make sure to bring some Schmalzer along. Oh, i am in a damn good mood right now.

That looks an amazing place to visit

^^^ I often use my Prestige hi-dome pressure cooker to make up one-pot meals. Plenty of organic veg & beans & pulses & herbs & spices. Then when servered I stir in a spoon of a Pataks pickle for added flavour. I knocked down a hen pheasant yesterday & it is hanging in my Kitchen for a day or two before I skin & gut her ready for the pot too. The secret of a good stew is lots of different ingrediants, but not too much of any one.

no offense–rather you inform me of bangers and mash or yorkshire pudding. surely BG is not all beans. i’m talking meat and potatoes sir. my mom used to fry and then steam pheasant. she could make rabbit taste almost as good. hens are off limit here.don’t shoot any more. old and pathetic.

B

i settled in for monday nite football with a measure of whiskey and a few beers. whiskey with beer chasers. rolled a couple cigarettes that i’d probably need. looked at my snuff and saw the tub of garrett. put quantity of it in my day box and added some toque AT and WH for flavor. N-lishious. watched the game . several boilermakers later the cigarettes still lay. that’s impossible–given my usual lack of willpower. i did sneeze some, but didn’t contemplate the fags

My favourite one pot is 5Ps: Pasta, Pesto, Pancetta, Peas, Parmesan Cook the pancetta (or diced smoked bacon) and set aside. Cook the pasta (twists of shells usually for me) and don’t work about bacon/pancetta residue left in the pan, tipping in fresh or frozen garden peas a couple of minutes before the pasta is done. Once cooked, quickly drain and return to the pan. Stir in green pesto and the pancetta/bacon and gently warm through for a minute. Serve and top with grated parmesan. I have a cast iron marmitout for this dish, which means I can actually fry the meat in the lid whilst the pasta is cooking, and the cast iron retains all the heat for warming the pesto through Another one-pot I do is in the slow cooker. Diced stewing steak, carrots, peas, pearl barley (and/or other lentils as desired), water, stock cube, a splash of Hendersons Relish (made in Sheffield, we don’t just make steel and snuff you know :P), and maybe a splash of wine if I have a bottle open. Chuck them all in the slow cooker, turn it on and bugger off for the day knowing there’s a fine meal waiting for you when you get back

5

Oh, another couple … but oven tray rather than pot! Meat in foil, surround with parsnips, sweet potatoes, carrots and garlic cloves still in their skins, all drizzled with oil and sprinkled with herbs. If I’m doing this the meat inside the foil will either be a chicken breast sliced open like a pitta and stuffed with 50/50 cream cheese and green pesto and then wrapped in bacon, or it will be boneless pork chop dipped in egg then in dried stuffing mix (the juices from the meat provide the water content for the stuffing)

5

Take a banana, peel it then slice open and fill with dark chocolate, and wrap in foil. When you take your stuffed chicken breast or pork chop in stuffing out of the oven, take the foil wrapped banana and drop it on the top oven shelf, close the door quickly and turn the oven off (there should be enough residual heat in there). By the time you’ve eaten the main course and cleaned up the choccy 'nana should be done. Serve with a couple or three fresh strawberries - job done!

P

You got some interesting (and yummy sounding) recipes here. I guess i will try something of this one potters. Like this style of cooking myself.

5

Thanks Prismaster. I also like doing soups in the slow cooker. One of my favourites from this year was made with veg I grew in pots on my back yard. Tomatoes (very ripe/over ripe) and carrots, with red onion, lovage, chard, red veined sorrel, herbs and a splash of Henderson’s Relish again. Cook in slow cooker for about 6-7 hours, blend and cook again for another 2-3 hours adding extra herbs if needed, and add a good splash of tabasco about 20-30 mins from the end. Eat one portion and freeze the rest of it in individual portions for a quick meal another day. My sweet potato, butternut squash and coriander soup was a close second … but I didn’t grow those

F

im tempted to turn my noodle soup into a one pot, usually i fry some beef or tofu for it, but now im not using tofu i might see if i can cook it all in the pot. includes chilli, ginger, cardamom, leafy veg like cabbages etc (or go with a chinese stir-fry mix, but leave the beansprouts out) mushrooms, sesame oil, soy sauce, vegetable stock, and obviously noodles. might modify it into a stew or something because the spices work well together. Tabasco makes a great addition during cooking, but i started leaving it out since my housemate had trouble handling the chilli i put in to begin with when we shared or i made too much.

J

@bogybill I’m fond of cassoulet type recipes. The real deal involves duck confit, which is rather expensive. Chicken thigh portions work very well, however. Put thigh portions in a pot with some beans (butter beans are good), green lentils, pork sausages (toulouse-style if you can get them) and either chorizo or black pudding cut into small chunks. Cover with vegetable stock. Add some garlic and a little tomato paste. Cook on gas mark 3/325F/170C for about 2.5 to 3 hours. Serve with crusty bread.

As of today, at work, I have converted 2 smokers and 1 non-tobacco user to snuff. I felt bad about the non-tobacco guy, but he’s an adult and can make his own decisions. They are always coming over to my tool box to ask for a pinch…“Hey man, can I get another pinch of that stuff…It’s great!”

F

ha! i wonder what will happen when i start work, though i fear it will be more of a snus thing than a snuff thing, cant have brown powders all over (im working in stockroom of a clothes shop)

That looks like it is actually in banana leaves, not a banana peel. Also the logo is from Snuffstore Germany, a totally different business than Snuffstore UK/Mr Snuff.

I keep WE Garrett and Toque Quit in my toolbox, and I keep McChrystal’s Hops in a flask on my keyring. As far as the lunchbox stash, it varies, but I always have Xmas Pudding, Pomagranate and Toque Menthol, the rotation is usually peach, blueberry, Honey Bee, Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and many more. I think the non smoking guy took a liking to Honey Bee and the 2 smokers were getting into Quit, Coke, and Xmas Pudding.

Well, sorry, but we got that a few days ago as you can read in the late posts we made.

5

I did have a look at that site (snuffstore.de), but they’ve not started accepting card payments yet (the site does say soon). When they do I might give them a try and see what they’re like

Please, dont let this go in the wrong direction: I DID NOT INTEND TO MAKE ANY AD FOR THIS COMPANY !!! I just did post the picture of this “banana sneeze” (as they call it), because i tought it would be of interest to people here and i did not found any other picture of it besides the one with the watermark of this company. I am a customer of them because i am german and it is a german company what means for me “hassle free buisness”. That’s all. THAT WAS NOT A AD !!!

5

Don’t panic! I had looked at them before, but not used them for the reason I mentioned. Seeing their name again was a reminder for me to see if they’d got card payments sorted yet, that’s all

P

Scotch lovers ?

5

I’m having one of those days where I can’t seem to get my nic level settled. I’m either craving or I’ve overcooked it. Stress and lack of sleep this week I think. Ready for the weekend, that’s for sure!

F

thats strange, either im having very inconsistent nic in my tops/dregs mix, or im the same. did it with GH cherry too i guess. was like a tobacco free last night, this morning it hit me like a freight train. ive never had a snuff sit me down before, except my first massive dose of abraxas premium fin.

5

It’ll be the shock of working for you mate

F

aye, could be, i crashed when i got in from work, the only thing that took the edge off my mental and physical state was double barrel snus, snuff and a shot of whisky haha. i expected this job to be repetitive, but not so tiring.

P

i just did hit the banana snuff for the first time and i must say it is quite nice. it is like a typical SA snuff with earthy aroma and more coarse grind but it comes out as very dry. it stimulates my nose strongly and you cannot hold it for very long but that is it not a bad thing in my opinion. it got a definitly strong cleaning ability. besides this it seems to contain some serious nic so i am fine with this as well. tonight i will grab some beers as well and enjoy a fresh tin of SG’s London Brown (which is all time fav of mine). i wish you all a pleasant weekend!

M

Thanks for the review. I like hearing about snuffs that are available in different parts of the world.

P

@Mouse after a few sniffs i have to add that i feel the tobacco somehow quite harsh to my nose and it drips in awful way. it seems to me that is the same kind as the ones from Dingler but since it lacks the moisture it is somehow strange. i have to take more of it but i starting to feel slightly unpleasant with this one. i will report again. ^^

5

Just been sat tonight thinking about how cheap snuff is. OK, cheap is a relative term, but here are the comparisons I was coming up with: 25g of snuff costs me half a packet of cigarettes. 10 cigarettes is less than half a day of tobacco consumption, but 25g of snuff will give me well over a week of snuffing pleasure. In fairness I smoke rull ups rather than “made” cigs, and without snuffing I consume a 50g pouch a week. The costs of 50g of RYO, plus the papers and filters would just about buy me a 250g tub of snuff from certain vendors - that’s over three months worth of snuff … every week! It’s not just cheap in comparison with other tobacco products either. That 25g of snuff costs less than a fish and chip supper from the local chippy, and less than three litres of petrol (just over half a gallon) of petrol for the car. The cost of three pints of beer from the local pub would keep me in snuff for a month, and a nice bottle of single malt whisky costs six months of snuff. A tire for my car would cost me almost a year’s supply, and my combined phone and broadband bills cost me 6 months snuff every month. I’ve recently been considering getting a new fridge as mine is on it’s last legs, and the (modest) fridge I was looking at would cost me over three years snuff!!! Now I don’t feel so bad that I have enough snuff to last me two years. I spent more than that on food for Christmas Day last year!

H

Well Grunt has finally found a place in my occasional rotation. That dirty ashtray smell actually seems to kick my cravings when I find myself wanting to reach for a cig.

5

Snuff is even cheaper than I thought, relatively speaking. It appears my usage is currently only around 1.5g a day, so you can pretty much double everything I said in the post above One weeks RYO baccy buys six months snuff not three etc etc. Obviously this would vary according to your own usage :-"

5

My British nose prefers British snuffs, but then I am inhaling it with British air. Just wondering if location makes a difference to how your nose works with a given snuff. I should also add I work in a dirty industry as many British snuffers used to in days gone by (if that makes a difference) Anyone here travel a lot and find they prefer different snuffs in different places?

5

Another thing … I mentioned this briefly in the “what’s in your nose thread”, but I’ve had a 20g tin of JH Wilson SP No1 land - and the flour is different to last time. Their SP No 1 was the first snuff I ever tried, and as I recall the grind was very reminiscent of GH … but now it’s more of a WoS flour. Also … last time it was in one of the little plastic rectangular tubs with the metal lid, but this time the 5g doses (I got some top mill too) are in little round (all metal) tins. I don’t have any WoS tins here in the office to compare them to (I’ll be looking closely when I get home) … but have I missed some news on this? Do JHW have their own mill, or are they contracting out?

F

im not sure, but i got the medicated from them awhile ago, that was in a round tin and the image on the site i got it from was a rectangle tin. the grind was closer to a WoS flour. wonder if they changed it, im interested in trying the SP.

5

I tried to find out some more on this, but I’ve hit a brick wall at the mo. Seems JHW was in Sheffield till 1989 when they got bought out, then it got transferred to Liverpool. At some point after that production moved to South Africa, but apparently there were supply and quality issues there, and production moved back to the UK in 2012 … but I don’t know where to. I think there is an Imperial Tobacco manufacturing site in Nottingham, but don’t know if the snuff is/was produced there. I’m now wondering whether they have continued to produce this snuff, or have decided to just keep the name and sales. Was the first batch I had from GH? The second from WoS? Maybe they purchase in the flour and just scent and package it, and have changed the source of their flour? The reason for this last thought is that apparently JH Wilson (whilst still based in Sheffield) used to provide the base flour to McChrystals (according to a nugget I found on a Sheffield Forum by an ex Wilson’s employee) All’s fair in snuff and war I suppose

M

‘whilst’, lovely word, hardly anyone in the USA ever uses it.

N

The difference between the two is probably due to the fact that the snuff in the little blue tin was stale as hell (those little rectangular blue tins suck) and the snuff in the round tin is fresh as can be. If you want it like you remember just leave the tin open for a couple weeks.

5

:)) Yeah, there was certainly a difference in moisture but the grind also seemed different from what I remembered. Another member said the same too

P

I am in love with GH handspun tobacco. I use it orally (totally statisfy my nic carvings) and smoke it in the pipe (quite same effect)… AND you dont have to spit. I have to admit, that the taste of american chew is better (sweeter?) but that is just personal taste, anyway i can advice anyone to try this to get the control of nic carvings and imho the price is just right.

F

@prismaster im getting used to not spitting much with it orally, and if only i could find my pipe box… but i think the price is too high for me considering i can get two tubs of snus pretty much for the price of one ‘medium’ length of twist. shame really, although i like it so much i can see myself using it on the odd occasion in future while im around the house.

M

I just ordered some GH Sweet Rum twist. I intend to smoke it but will think about chewing it. Only problem is I only ordered 1 ounce (for around $5) and I don’t want to chew some and not like it, that would be wasteful. I have heard a lot of good things about the twist tobaccos and one of the reasons I ordered some is because of the strength.

try to chew it and in case you dont like it, just take it out and dry it and then smoke it. works perfect

F

yeah, smoke it. thats why i didnt have much problem getting some. i shouldve got some brown twist rather than two types of black though…

F

@50ft_trad instead of going off topic in the colds thread, ill ask here- what new snuffs did you get, and what are your thoughts on them? im interested to hear.

5

@Firestarter0 … get ready >:) Here’s the snuffs I currently have either unopened, or one’s I’ve only had one pinch from. Basically, stuff that wants exploring properly: Mullins & Westley: Rumba, Particular, Citrus, Mature Crumbled F&T: HDT Toque: Xmas Pudding, SP Extra JH Wilson: SP No 1 (new batch), Top Mill, GH: Strawberry, Dry Orange, Cherry Viking: Brown, Peach Segar & Snuff: Convent Sandalwood SG: Wild Duck, Afterglow, Gin & Tonic, Mellowmint Toque: Vanilla, Plain Coarse, St Clements, Crazy George, Violet WoS: Rose, Jasmine McC: Mild Lemon SWS: Auld Alliance, Creme de Figue Some of these I’ve had for quite a while, others are only recent, but have been reluctant to open whilst I’ve got other stuff open. I think I need to start getting ruthless with some of my snuffs I’ve had open a while - either use 'em, or lose 'em. The newer ones I’ve tried and really liked include M&W Jocks Choice and Emerald Mocha, and 2013 Christmas Special from SG. I’ve also been getting into GH Ambassador & Sea Breezes & F&T Princes Special. I still keep coming back for more Berwick Brown though, it’s almost a staple food for me recently Other nice ones are Coke, Absinth, Blueberry, Apricot, Toffee, and Pomegranate all by Toque. These are really nice occasional snuffs to break up the day, but not ones I’d want to dedicate a part/full day to

F

oooh, you got some good ones ready to open there, you know what to do with ones you dont like though

S

@50ft_trad don’t toss the snuff you are struggling with. Try putting together in airtight jar, mix your odds and ends and let sit, add as you have items to add - but you will be amazed at how good your ‘unliked’ snuffs will become. Unique, tasty and frankly ultimately cheap as you have saved from the ultimate indignity of tossing. After all, you do not want to be guilty of ‘snuff abuse’.

5

:)) Snuff abuse … funny Yeah, I have considered doing my own “Crazy George” style concoction. I’ve just picked up 9 x 1 litre Kilners jars today for my bulk. Maybe I ought to reserve one for the rejects :-? The first one in there would be SG Apple for sure

S

@50ft_trad Just give it a whirl, you won’t regret it. beside, if it should go sideways what would you have lost??

5

Well, I went out yesterday to get some clip top kilner jars for my bulk which was all sitting in the containers they arrived in. I ended up coming back with 9 x 1 litre jars which I hoped would be enough. 500g of Tom Buck nearly didn’t fit in a single jar, but I put my hand in to compact (artificially settle ) it a little, and managed to get the rest in. 500g of Celtic Talisman was a similar story. The 400g of Berwick Brown and Coarse Plain from Toque fitted like a glove in their respective jars with no jiggery pokery. 5 jars left. 250g of SG London Brown, 250g of Firedance, 250g of GH Plain KB fitted easily in their jars as you’d imagine. 2 jars left now. I had 100g of Toque’s Rustica Coarse and 100G of Rustica Fine, and I decided to put both in the same jar! My theory here was that the fine would give a quick nic rush, but may also fade quicker … but the slower releasing coarse would overlap with this. Quick hit, with a prolongued afterglow. Based on this theory (rightly or wrongly) it seemed to make sense to have a 200g Rustica blend, which will actually be used mainly as a mixer anyway to add some punch to pleasant smelling but lightweight snuffs. One jar left … and no more bulk Looks like my Granny’s Stew concoction will be stepping up from a Sharrow Mills slidebox to a 1 litre Kilner Jar. I just need to come up with an apt name for it now … maybe with the increased size of the “cooking pot” I should go from Granny’s Stew to Wizard’s Brew ;))

P

500g just sounds SOOO huge !!! @50ft_trad what do you think how long this will last ?

5

Well, I probably use between 1.5g and 2g per day, so I’ll not be running out any time soon

P

Well, I probably use between 1.5g and 2g per day, so I’ll not be running out any time soon

I bet. Btw: anybody up tonight ?? I welcome a bit of chit-chat.

P

I just ordered 400g of Christmas Pudding and a 50g bag of Rustica, I need to find containers before it arrives. On another note, I’m sitting back drinking Elijah Craig 18 year and pinching Elmo’s Reserve like mad, trying to take the edge off of work today, and prepare for work tomorrow.

P

Work tomorrow ? Saturday works sucks, right ? I have a few beers (Hemelinger Spezial) and in my mouth sits a nice piece of Kendal Brown Pigtail. I have SG Irish D Light at hand as well.

P

Yea, Saturday work sucks. But at least I only work every other Saturday and I get the Monday following it off. So it works out. I like the Mondays off because I can get things done with no one bothering me.

P

I work 3-shift-system. Morning, Night, Day-shift. Same rotation all the time. Over the years you get used to it. Besides this we get paid extra money for night-shifts and on saturdays. So i dont bother most of the time, say, if itś not go overboard.

M

@Prismaster @Firestarter0 i’m still not sure about chewing the GH Sweet Rum Twist, but I have smoked some and I really like it. It tastes somewhat similar to a cigar but isn’t quite as harsh if you try to inhale it. I don’t normally inhale my pipe tobacco or any cigar that I might try but I always inhale a couple of times with new tobacco to get an idea of the overall strength (really harsh=stronger, usually, like the twist I have now, and easy to inhale could be a not so strong tobacco like a straight Virginia. My local tobacconist has an English blend with some good nicotine content but is like air when you inhale it which I thought was strange.) and to boost the nicotine intake.

P

@md363 If you want to put it in your mouth, i would adive you to cut a rather “small” piece, say 1 to 2 cm and put in your lip. Just let it rest and maybe suck a bit, dont chew with your teeth, i am sure you will notice some nice nicotine soon. I really like those twists.

5

Drove up to Kendal today - just needed a day out as a breath of fresh air after a family bereavement last week. That place is a nightmare to drive round, and I’ll have to go back another day do do it properly. I did drop in at Airey’s shop though. I wasn’t impressed with the snuff assortment. WoS C of C, Red Bull, assorted GH sneezeboxes, two 25g tubs that looked as though they’d been there a long time or bulk tubs. I expected to see a wide range of GH & SG snuffs on show, but no such luck. In fact thinking about it, I didn’t see any SG snuff on sale anywhere … I saw the Turk on the old GH building (no pics, bad lighting and much traffic), but didn’t have a snoop at the current factories, although I don’t think you can with the new GH site anyway

P

The wife is watching Harry freaking Potter, which I can’t stand those movies. So here I am perusing a snus order and counting the days until my snuff shows up.

P

I think I might like Bulleit rye whiskey better than Elijah Craig 12 year, and far better than JD.

N

Ugh! Shouldn’t have taken that Cafe 11 just before bed… Can’t sleep. Thank God for anime and Snuffhouse!

P

So Cafe 11 is really is caffeinated? That’s good to know.

5

It’s blustery down here, but nothing like that thankfully. Stay safe!

@Prismaster thanks for the advice

I did. Feel free to tell me. What was the last show/movie you did watch ? I am curious.

P

@Prismaster thanks for the advice

You are welcome. Did it work out for you ?

I’ve actually really gotten hooked on Sword Art Online. I have a very varied taste though. I also love Lucky Star, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Hellsing, FLCL, Tenjou Tenge, and of course anything Miyazaki has a hand in and many more.

SWORD ART ONLINE was awesome !!! Did love it. Recently i did watch BESERK: The Golden Age and Broke Blade. Both good fun imho.

Been reading Snuffreviews and spotted that Coltsfoot has the same coarser ground base as Berwick Brown. Are these the only two, or are there others?

Excellent! I’ll be sure to add that to my shopping list. Many thanks @n9inchnails

Anyone watch Summer Wars last night? Kind of Digimon-ish but I liked it.

H

Not yet but I recorded it to watch tonight. But from the previews I definitely see where you are coming from. My first thoughts were that it looked like the exact same style of animation used in the old digimon movie.

P

Anyone watch Summer Wars last night? Kind of Digimon-ish but I liked it.

Summer Wars is a damn, great anime movie. I really did like it. Kind of Digimon-ish ? Well, mostly true - BUT that should not ruin the fun for anybody who not saw it since it is WAY beyond crap like Digimon. I really did like it.

Just finished watching Summer Wars…

Hell yeah !!! Nice that you guys did enjoy it as well !!

Topic dead ?

N

Topic dead ?

Well. I saw Trigun: Badlands Rumble last night. It was ok. I am looking forward to Space Dandy.

H

From the commercial, Space Dandy looks like it will be great. And Badlands Rumble …well it was Trigun…how could it be anything but great?

H

To harken back to my post about my pipe tobacco christmas present. It turned out to be a bag of Smokers Pride Cherry Cavendish. It was pleasently surprising. It is the first aromatic to not bite me no matter how many bowls I smoke or how hard I puff. This is from the guy who feels like he has eaten a bowl of fire ants after smoking a bowl of Sir Walter Raleigh. SPCC does get a little goopy towards the bottom but it does just fine in my cobs.

N

I’ll have to try that. Have you tried Shortcut to Mushrooms by Just for him? It’s bite free, not to goopy, and a very unique take on, well, I’m not sure what. All I can say is that vanilla and a little latakia go great together! I guess it could be considered an SG Perfection (another blend I love) lite.

H

I have not tried SCTM but I keep hearing people rave about it. It is definitely at the top of my to-try list.

I am not sure what to watch next. Lately i did switch to old japanese b/w samurai movies (some in colour as well). I can HIGHLY recommend the masterpiece RAN (colour) and for instant entertainment and deep shit THREE OUTLAW SAMURAIS (from famous TOEI movie company, you can find it on YouTube). If anybody likes this stuff, i can recommend more. I am more or less alone with my pleasure for it.

I remember when IFC ran Samurai Saturday. I was part of my morning ritual

i cant see that going down too well. i live with 3 spanish, and any translate software seems to be very shaky. to the point where its not worth the effort.

@lunecat Well done!

Been reading Snuffreviews and spotted that Coltsfoot has the same coarser ground base as Berwick Brown. Are these the only two, or are there others?

Bump … ?

DOUBLE BUMP…?

What is with all the necroposting lately? Is it not common knowledge that it is kind of an internet taboo to resurrect threads over a year old unless you have something substantial to add and for good reason? Or am I just being picky?

@Harlequin 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X

B

@Harlequin - I know why I did it. To point out; in fact underline a matter of time. I thought was pertinent. Reading over the two and catching all the bad grammar not pointing out the misspelled words, and lack of punctuation. Oh just mentioning, English was my worst subject, had determined this character is just that. Fictitious

J

@Harlequin Perhaps because we value all things old and traditional here? Or perhaps it’s just an excuse to post more skulls… 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X P.S. @basement_shaman Are you saying that you are a figment of your own imagination?

H

…I will accept an excuse to post more skulls.

N

alright then 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X

Ok, ok… i admit it. I was absent for some time. So much terror in my life the last months but it seems that the sky gets clear again and the clouds disappear. So i just hit back into the chit-chat. Anyone up at this time and day ? I got 2 free days and enjoy a cold beer and SG Irish D Light. If YOU are here, drop a line and join my lonely-man party-night. You are welcome!!!

P

Who else enjoys friday evening pleasures ??? Speak up !!!

Just saw an infomercial for a product called “MyPurMist”. www.MyPurMist.com It’s a ventilator type thing that releases steam through a mask and the whole device is small enough to hold with one hand. I saw it and immediately thought, this would be great to clear out the sinuses and nose at the end of the day and in the morning for us snuffers. Anyone on here should check it out on the website. I think its also available on amazon.com. I may get one if I decide to use some extra money I would normally use for snuff to buy it EDIT: Just checked the website myself and it actually costs $160 + $20 s/h so I probably will never get one but still everyone should check it out, I think it would be great for snuffers.

I am all up and ready. Cannot find that much sleep during the nights lately. Too many nightshifts. Horrible.
