Let us know, mustangii. Intriguing. That sausage is really cool.

There is only 1 way to find out if it is still good… But that would destroy your novelty item. I would just save it as a collectable. I have never seen anything like it before!

Wow, that’ll make for an interesting pinch…I hope it’s still fresh, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be as it’s sealed, but who knows…how exciting! Will you open it and partake, or save it?

If it’s not good you could just slice it up and cook it for breakfast. It’d be vegetarian too!

Well, I looked and looked and even tried to search through Google. We used to have a thread called “Snuff Sausages” and I could not find it. It was all about this very thing. Others have turned these up (various brands) on ebay from time to time. These might even still be made.

If the Bruton glass jar was vacuum sealed, and if the seal is intact, the contents might very well still be in good condition. I would think the “sausage” packaging may not be as sturdy, however. Keep us posted.

I wonder whether that is french or garlic polony, I mean, snuff!

The burton is as fresh as it was when Jarred. wonderful stuff. edm

Nice!

well couldn’t stand it anymore, opened the sausage. the snuff was good. edm

Awesome! I need to find me some vintage snuff…it’s brilliant that it was still fresh.

Nice scores, especially since buying vintage snuff on eBay can be an uncertain thing.

I have one of the 4.65oz snuff sausages of RR Mills plain sitting beneath the monitor. Got it the same way you got yours, though I received half as much for about the same price. They do pop up from time to time, and I imagine the sausages will stay good for aeons, so long as they don’t get torn. They’re just about air-tight from what I can tell, and prevent light from damaging the snuff. Still waiting to finish off my tin of RR Mills and have an empty jar to decant it into before I slice mine open. They do show up on ebay with some regularity, so it might be a decent option for those who don’t want to buy scotches from Europe and pay extra. Just have limited choice and irregular stock. I’d be interested to know if they’re still being made myself, but the companies are known for telling other members of the forum that they didn’t even know they still made scotches, so there may not be any way to tell for sure.
