Carhart's Choice (CC)

Wow, has this not been reviewed yet or did I just miss the post somewhere? Anyway, Tom at Nicotine Rush sent me a sample of this with my last order so I thought I’d post some feedback on it. This is a very fine, powdery American Scotch in line with most of the other offerings of its genre. The color is that of dark khaki and when taken properly it goes in smooth. It has about the same grind consistency as Garret, Rooster, etc… The emphasis on this one is the “sweet”. Man, is it sweet. One of the sweetest snuffs I’ve ever sampled. I don’t know what they flavor this with but it is down right close to pure sugar in taste. Its not bad, just be advised up front of the taste. If you like sweetness or something to flavor up your mix then this one is for you. I can’t say about the strength of nicotine since I am so constantly permeated with snuff all day that I really can’t tell. Not a bad snuff but very distinct in its character. Thanks for the sample Tom.

I just got a can of Carharts sweet today with my order from Nicotine Rush. To be fair, I haven’t spent much time on it, as I’m going through sampling all the ones I just got. But, right off the bat, this seems like a stand up snuff. In my opinion it’s a fair bit sweeter than red seal and goes down a bit smoother. Overall though, most of the US smokeless snuffs seem a bit harder to take for me than the swisher or garrett varieties. Anyway, I look forward to spending more time with this one.

After comparing my 1954 Carhart’s Sweet with a fresh can, I was amazed of the power in the fresh one. I like it a lot, and Buttercup too. It’s a little weird to me, since I am not a great fan of sweet snuffs otherwise. I can see myself using Carhart’s Sweet as an all day snuff definitely.

Certainly not the sweetest snuff. I would say this is in line with tube rose in terms of sweet. I.e. probably half as sweet as a typical sweet. Not so sweet that you can’t take it all day. As a matter of fact, I’m going on day 3 with this as an all day snuff. It’s very balanced in it’s smoky character, balanced in it’s fire cured character. It’s just a very nice balanced semi sweet and semi smoked snuff. Is it my favorite right now? Yeah. Who knows what tomorrow will bring but today is bringing lots of carharts choice to my nose. 5/5 stars. Perfect grind, scent, moisture, nicotine. And like all sweets, delicious back drip. This is something I could really stock up on.

Where does one pick up this Carhartt choice?

Delaware and most southern states.

Thanks shaman. I live in Arizona. I might have to buy a box and send it to a friend that lives in the south then send it to me.

Get 5 boxes… I got it on a lark, glad I got it all but wish there was another few cases to put into deep storage.

@Psicko Your welcome! Just trying to be helpful. If they sold it around here,  I would send you one. Go to your local tobacconist or cigar store they can get a box for you. Then you can send it to your friend that lives in the south so he can send it back to you. I have no clue why you would do that.

Shaman, they don’t carry it where I live. unless they will still send a box to the nearest store by me, I will have to have a friend in the south buy me a box and send it to me.

If you can hang on a month or so, I can get you some. Currently I have a few small tins, but I can get the big ones next time I’m in Georgia. They’re about $15 max.

@tobe. Thanks for the offer. I don’t need a big tin. A small one would do for trial. I’m in no hurry. I’m still relatively new to snuff. I haven’t tried a bunch of it yet.

With so many snuffs in my drawer, I have never even tried the CC. although I have two fresh small tubs in my bug-out-bag!!

@Psicko If you haven’t gotten your hands on some by the time I get back home, I’ll send you a small tin. Sadly, that won’t be until around Thanksgiving…

Knowing that this snuff is still manufactured is actually really comforting. I’m going on maybe a week with it as an all day snuff and haven’t gotten tired of it in the slightest. If I’m running low by Thanksgiving I might ask you to get me a few of those thrifty cans @tobe

And the inevitable mixer: my homemade sp mixed with this cc scotch. Tastes like a sweet juicy orange:)

This is still my daily, it’s just so good in every category. I also had the unique opportunity as I bought out the store to have bought a couple of pre-pact act cans with the lot that was mostly post-pact act. So far I’d think the contents are identical, so either they are still picking from the same supply which is probably the most likely, or it’s just very consistent. Love this stuff

786  This thread is making me want to break out some of my sweet scotches, which is a rarity for me.  Thanks!
